The presented issue is a result of the competition for a project of a post stamp "My dreamed vacation" carried on by Polish Post for children and youth from elementary schools. From among 20 thousands of works executed in many different techniques: stick-in pictures - a very laborious technique using tiny pieces of paper, little pellets of crinkled paper, plasticine , noodles, pieces of glass, mirrors, shells, threads, matches and even sand and stained-glass panels, have been selected four works, which have been presented on the stamps:
- face value 1.20 PLN - eleven years old Anna Golebiowska from Bukowo Morskie,

The Royal Baths, called also Warsaw Baths are an authentic monument of the history but also a place charming by its beauty, where as says the poet "Poland can be seen better". The history of the famous park and palace complex reaches the year 1680, when on the commission of the prince Stanislaw Herakliusz Lubomirski the architect Tylman von Gameren has constructed a central pavillion Baroque style being a bath. Hence the name of the complex.

Stanislaw August Poniatowski, the last king of Poland, conferred to LAZIENKI the shape that in his basic outline was preserved to the present time. He has created a center beaming the culture all over the Country. It is his merit that the name Royal Baths became current. On the commission of the King the architects D. Merlini and J.Ch. Kramsetzer and the sculptor A. Le Brun transformed the bath building into a classicistic palace called since then The Palace on the Island or The Palace on Water. Summer time the king celebrated the so called "Thursday Dinners" with participation of outstanding men of letters, scientists and artists. In the park have been built in the style of early classicism the White House and the Myslewicki Palace, a pavillon in Chinese style, also an amphitheatre with the stage on an island, a bridge with the monument of the king Jan III Sobieski, the Great Orangery and the building of the Guardhouse. Has been started to be erected the church called the Temple of Erroneousness according to the project of J. Kubicki.

The period of splendor of the park-palace complex passed with the end of the reign of the king Stanislaw August. The later history of the Royal Baths has been identical with the difficult history of the whole nation. During the II World War the museum collections have been robed and taken to Germany. The Nazi have destroyed the monument of Fryderyk Chopin, have burned the Palace on the Island. After the war the Royal Baths have been reconstructed, they are as formerly accessible to the public, are taking place concertos, theatre spectacles and meetings, museums are in activity.

On the prepared by the Polish Post set of post stamps are presented the most characteristic for LAZIENKI monuments:
- face value 1. 20 PLN - Palace on the Island /South view/
- face value 1. 80 PLN - Palace on the Island /North view/
- face value 2. 10 PLN - Myslewicki Palace
- face value 2. 60 PLN - the Amphitheatre.

On the day of introduction of the stamps into circulation will be in sales two types of FDC on which has been placed the sculpture Venus from the Bath Room of the Palace on the Island and the monument of the king Jan II Sobieski. At the Post Office Warszawa 1 will be in use a special cancellation.

The subject of the current issue of the post stamps in the framework of the cycle EUROPE is poster. For the post administration belonging to PostEurop /Association of the Public Post Operators/ it is an excellent occasion to present the attainments of its own country in the domain of art.

Polish poster is highly appreciated in the whole world and the Polish artists are included to the world top in this domain of utility graphics. Polish Post has already presented on the stamps the works of the outstanding poster artists on the set "The Polish Poster". This time we present the work of the artist graphic Wieslaw Walkuski - painter and author of illustrations, author of more then 200 posters, an artist esteemed in the country and outside.

The poster seen on the stamp refers to the exhibition 'VANITAS. Coffin portrait on the background of Sarmatian /old-Polish/ funeral customs". The artist has in a very presentatively way illustrated the subject of the exhibition, has touched many threads, forcing the spectators to a reflection on its own life, passing away, the substance of existence. The presented on the poster woman awaken pensiveness over the fragility of the beauty and transitoriness of the worldly possessions. The poster has been highly appreciated at the XV Exhibition of Polish Poster in Katowice in 1997, where it received the Grand Prix.

A great artistic event has been also the exhibition "VANITAS. Coffin portrait on the background of Sarmatian /old Polish/ funeral customs" presented in the National Museum in Poznan.

The coffin portrait is strictly linked with Sarmatian customs, understood as a group of features attributed to the morality, mentality, culture and literature of the nobles in Poland by the end of the XVI century up to the end of XVII century. Realized by anonymous artists on a metal sheet, had the shape of a hexagon or octagon, which corresponded to the section of a coffin. Set by the bed-head of the coffin was after the funeral ceremonies suspended in the church or in the vault. This portrait presented the bust of the dead person, fixing strait the spectator. Its features have been reality and strong expression.

On the day of introduction of the stamp into circulation will be in sale an FDC with special cancellation in use at the Post Office Warszawa 1.

The falling this year the 750th Anniversary of location of the city of Poznan has been reflected in the issues of Polish Post. The presented on the block the beautiful panorama of the ancient Poznan is coming from the fringe of the map of Poland from year 1626. On the panorama background are situated three symbols related to the past of the city:
  • - the eagle in the cartouche - recognized as one of the oldest representation of the emblem of Poland, discovered during archeological researches in Ostrow3 Lednicki /in the years 1932-35/,
  • - arms of Poznan from the renaissance vaulting of the Big Entrance-hall of the Town Hall from year 1555.
  • - The "horse" seal of the founder of the city prince Przemyslav from XIII c. which according to the idea of the author of the conception Mr. Adam Kochanowski and the graphic artist prof. Andrzej Jeziorowski is so introduced into the composition to make that the stamp calls in mind a sealed parchment edict.
On the post stamp with face value 1. 20 PLN is presented the panorama of old Poznan seen across the river Warta from east direction over which are towering the buildings of the Financial Center, the Library of the Economic Academy, the Commercial Center "Okraglak" and dwelling houses.

On the two FDC accompanying the stamps are being placed fragments of the map of Poznan from the work of Hogenberg and Braun "Civitates orbis terrarum" from year 1618.

On the day of introduction of the stamps into circulation will be in use at the Post Office Poznan1 a special cancellation patterned after the small emblem of the city of Poznan from the secret seal year 1344.

Picturesquely situated on the banks of t Vistula river the town, thanks to its perfectly preserved Renaissance architecture, is called "The pearl of Renaissance". The ruins of a XIV century castle according to the tradition built by Kazimierz Wielki are dominating the town. It is also to this king that the town owns the town rights. The unfolding itself from the castle hill scenery of the town and the surroundings appeals since centuries painters and tourists.

Close to the ruins stays the parish-church under the invocation of St. John Baptist and St Bartolomeo Apostle, which is also presented on the post stamp. The church founded by Kazimierz Wielki has been reconstructed after a fire in Renaissance style. Every year are taking place here the Summer Music Evenings.
