Polish Post having in mind all admirers and breeders of birds has prepared a set of four post stamps presenting exotic breed birds. The presented on the stamps birds are coming from diferent sometime remoted places in the world but their multicolor beauty and "bird charm" made that they are often gests in our houses.
The presented post stamps have been created in co-operation of an outstanding expert and lover of birds -
Dr of veterinary medicine Andrzej Kruszewicz from the Zoopark in Warsaw.
On the respective post stamps have been presented the following bird species:
on the first one
-Platycercus elegans lives on the east and south-east sea cost of Australia as well as in New Zealand. Birds of this specy nest in hollow scooped out in a tree trunk or mouldered tree trunks, high over the ground.
Their nests can be found also in slits of living houses. They feed with flowers of fruit trees, nectar, seeds of trees and grass. The voice of these birds is reach and varied, most often there are whistles and sharp "tirwik".
-Platycercus eximinius- the most colourful of this specy. It is possible to meet her in natural conditions in south-east Australia, New South Wales, in the province of Queensland, Tasmania and also New Zealand. She nests in hollow scooped out in tree trunks, sometime even in posts of fences. This bird is very popular by the breeders thanks to its attractive aspect and small demands. The voice of birds is higher then of Platycercus elegans.
On the second:
Nymphs - in natural conditions they are to meet in Australia. These good-tempered birds with melodious voice are easy to tame and reproduce easy even in breed conditions. The voice of the female is quiet, males have a very loud and shrill tint of the voice.
On the third:
The budgerigars are the most popular dashing birds in the world, bred in thousands of coloured combinations. In natural conditions the budgerigars can live even 15 years, in breed usually 5-7 years. A proper food is very important - it must be a proper mixture of seeds, vegetables and minerals. Originated from Australia the budgerigar has been discovered by Europeans in 1803. The first coloured mutations of the budgerigars came in the second half of the XIX c.
On the fourth:
-Taeniopygia guttata. The homeland of these birds is Australia. They have a variety of colours and a special singing reminding the sound of a trumpet These birds are easy to tame and they reproduce good by breeding.
-Amadynus lives in dry steppe grounds of South Africa. His main food are seeds of grasses and bushes. He builts nets in shady places or nets left by other birds. The males sing monotonously in a low mode; the females do not sing.
-Padda oryzivora - birds of this specy are to be met on Java, Sumatra, Borneo, Madras and on the southern lands of China. The nets of these birds have a spherical shape. The breed of these birds in home first have started the Chinese and then the Japonese. The male of this bird sings beautifuly and willingly.
The presented post stamps have been issued in the form of special sheetlets having eight post stamps. On the labels there are some graphic elements . This is an interesting supplement two the stamps.

Our wish is that because of the post stamps came to life personal remembrences of each of us, came back emotion coming from the meetings and words of the Holy Father, that have renewed the visage of this Earth and in difficult moment were the source of hope.
The Pope John Paul II is a recognized on the whole world as a moral authority. Through his teaching and example of his own life the Holy Father shows us that compassion and respect for the other man are the straightest ways to God.
The placed on the post stamps popes' words expressed during the visits in Poland in years 1979 - 2002 are testimony of concern of His Holiness about the futur of his Homeland and its position in the merging Europe and also a valuable source for considerations.
The respective post stamps to which the designes have been created by Vatican Post concern the following visits of the pope John Paul II to Poland:

The entrance of Poland into United Europe is a crucial event in the history of our country that crowns the difficult period of labour conforming our economical and socio-political system to European standards. From 1 May 2004 open for Poland quite new perspectives, appear chances for a faster development and improvement of the level of life.
Polish Post has prepared a special occasional philatelic value illustrating the process of enlarging of the European Union. We wanted to underline the standing of this event giving to the presented issue a special form - a post stamp with a tablet. On the stamp is presented the map of Europe where the states of United Europe are marked in dark blue color and in light blue the states joining UE. Along the left and right margin of the stamp are placed the flags of the states joining UE - in the order they have been mentioned in the Accession Treaty - Czech Republic, Estonia Republic, Cyprus Republic, Latvia Republic, Lithuania Republic, Hungary Republic, Malta Republic, Slovenia Republic, Slovakia Republic and in the right down corner - Polish Republic. An experienced eye of a philatelist will certainly spot still another novelty, in the place the traditional inscription Polska has been put the inscription Rzeczpospolita Polska /Polish Republic/.
The inserted in the left upper corner of the stamp the blue flag with twelve gold stars is obviously the flag of United Europe. The quantity of stars is constant and does not increase with the acception of new members. The authors of the designe of the flag were: a Spanish diplomate Salvador de Madariaga y Rojo and a French artist designer Arsene Heitz. During years there was a contention what are symbolizing the stars - hours, months, apostles or maybe perfection?. Heitz disclose the secret only on the deathbed. There is the same quantity of stars as over the head of Our Lady.
In this place it is good to mentione about another symbole of United Europe - the hymn which is "The Ode to Joy" from the IX Symphony of Ludwig van Beethoven. The composition is most often executed on the feast-day of United Europe. So already on the 9th of May we will listen "The Ode" as members of the European family with full rights
On the day of introduction of the stamp into circulation will be in sale an FDC with special cancellation in use at the Post Office Warszawa 1.
