The Ministry of Finance will make 2024 personal income tax returns available to taxpayers starting February 15th. This means you don't have to wait for your employer's paper PIT returns to file your taxes . Remember, this is your only opportunity of the year to support Public Benefit Organizations without spending a penny. If you donated to a public benefit organization during the year, you can deduct your donation from your tax.
Why is it worth donating 1.5% to the "Pocztowy Dar" foundation?
The Postal Foundation has been collecting funds from the 1.5% tax (previously 1% tax) since 2012. From the beginning, all money donated in this form by donors has been used to help. For seven years, it has been funding the foundation's largest charity event, "Postal Christmas." This is nothing less than assistance for families facing difficult life circumstances, including disability, serious or terminal illnesses, or other life tragedies. In 2024 alone, support was provided to over 100 families, who can use gift cards from the Foundation to purchase essential items.
We hope everyone never finds themselves in a situation where they need this kind of help. However, we all know how unpredictable life can be and how important it is to feel that we are not alone in difficult times – that we can count on support.
The "Pocztowy Dar" Foundation supports those in need not only before the holidays but throughout the year – helping the sick, children orphaned by postal workers, and those affected by fires. In 2024, it also supported numerous families affected by flooding.
To donate 1.5% to "Pocztowy Dar," simply enter the KRS number (National Court Register) – 0000370216 – and the amount you wish to donate. This amount cannot exceed 1.5% of your tax due, rounded down to the nearest whole tenth of a cent.
Tax deduction for donations for public benefit purposes
People who financially support public benefit causes (non-governmental organizations, foundations, associations – these do not always have to be Public Benefit Organizations) can benefit from tax relief.
The donation can be deducted in the PIT-37, PIT-36, PIT-36L and PIT-28 tax returns. The relief is reported in the PIT/O attachment, specifying the amount of the donation, the amount of the deduction made and data allowing the identification of the recipient.
Thank you for donating 1.5% to "Pocztowy Dar" and helping the postal foundation in more ways than just that. As Winston Churchill said, " We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. "
