To mark the 10th anniversary of the "Pocztowy Dar" Foundation, Poczta Polska issued a philatelic issue honoring the Foundation's charitable work. During this time, the Foundation has helped hundreds of people in need of support, focusing its efforts on the sick, those in difficult life situations, and gifted children and young people. During the coronavirus pandemic, the Foundation intensified its efforts to support postal workers and medical professionals.
On the "Post Gift Foundation" circulation stamp, visual artist Marzanna Dąbrowska depicted the Foundation's logo surrounded by ten golden hearts, symbolizing its 10th anniversary. The 4.10 PLN stamp will be available nationwide on December 4, 2020.
" The existence of a corporate foundation in a company with such reach, capabilities, and employee numbers is not only a necessity of the hour, but also a heartfelt need. Who else but a company with over 460 years of tradition in responding to customer needs could better understand the issues related to corporate social responsibility? Ten years ago, Poczta Polska decided to support its employees and their families in the most difficult situations. We decided to invest in the young generation of Poles by funding scholarships, supporting those injured in accidents and those in difficult life situations, as well as those with chronic illnesses. This latest philatelic issue is both a tribute to our Foundation's anniversary, but also a tribute and support for our beneficiaries, scholarship recipients, and donors. I would like our stamp to be perceived as a symbol of the company's social concern for its employees and their families, including in non-employment relationships, " says Wiesław Włodek, Vice President of Poczta Polska.
The "Pocztowy Dar" Foundation has been helping those in need for 10 years, including by providing assistance to Poczta Polska Group employees and their families. Holiday parcels, scholarships for orphaned children, and support for rehabilitation and treatment are just some of the forms of assistance the Foundation offers. Support also extends to individuals who, due to unexpected events such as fires, gas explosions, or storms, sometimes lose their entire life's possessions. Thanks to donations, six editions of the scholarship program were successfully implemented, awarding educational scholarships to 464 recipients. The Foundation also supports projects run by non-governmental organizations.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the Postal Foundation, thanks to financial support from entities within the Poczta Polska Group, has preventively established a special aid fund for Poczta Polska Group employees and their families affected by COVID-19. Furthermore, it purchased specialized medical equipment, a so-called immunological analyzer, which was delivered to the Regional Blood Donation and Treatment Center in Białystok. The Białystok analyzer is the only device of its kind in the country owned by regional blood donation and treatment centers. It serves patients and samples from blood donors from across Poland.
This year, the Foundation's support also went to other medical institutions in Poland: the District Hospital in Ryki, the Provincial Specialist Hospital named after the Blessed Virgin Mary in Częstochowa, the Zagłębie Oncology Center Specialist Hospital named after Sz. Starkiewicz in Dąbrowa Górnicza, the Provincial Multi-Specialist Center for Oncology and Traumatology named after M. Copernicus in Łódź, the University Clinical Hospital named after Józef Polikarp Brudziński in Warsaw, the Independent Public Health Care Facility named after Dr. Kazimierz Hołoga in Nowy Tomyśl, and the Independent Public Health Care Complex – District Hospital named after the Polish Red Cross in Nisko.
The donated funds were used to purchase items such as infusion and feeding pumps, laboratory equipment for coronavirus testing, a defibrillator for ambulance equipment, a patient isolation chamber drive system, and personal protective equipment for medical staff and patients. Some of these items will not only benefit those suffering from COVID-19. The equipment purchased through the "Postal Gift" will continue to serve hospitals and their patients for years to come.
" We established a corporate foundation that has been helping people in their most difficult moments and when they want to spread their wings for 10 years. I'm delighted that we have so many beneficiaries whose smiles are the greatest reward for the help they provide. This wouldn't be possible without the support and help from our Foundation's friends, for which we are constantly grateful. Today, we declare that we will support the sick and injured, help postal workers' families survive the most difficult life situations, and develop the athletic talents of talented young people. We will also remember seniors and lonely people, " says Agnieszka Kłoda-Dębska, President of the "Pocztowy Dar" Foundation.
Recently, Poczta Polska organized the first nationwide, open Polish Post Virtual Run. This event also provided an opportunity to support the Pocztowy Dar Foundation's beneficiaries. As a result, the Foundation's account was raised with nearly 14,000 złoty. All of this money will be used to promote sports activities among children and youth, combat social exclusion, and support young sports talent. The funds raised through this initiative will support organizations such as the Taneczne Marzenie Foundation, the LESZNOWOLA Sports Club, and the MAZOWSZE Grójecki Sports Club.
