Twenty years ago, the desires and expectations of generations of Poles living in a Europe divided by the Iron Curtain were fulfilled – Poland joined the European Union. To mark the anniversary of these events, Poczta Polska introduced a unique stamp entitled " 20th Anniversary of Poland's Accession to the European Union."

The past few years in the European community have been a time of unprecedented development for our country. Each of us can cite examples of spectacular changes in our immediate and wider surroundings, which have positively impacted daily life and development prospects. Time has shown that Poland's accession to the European Union was the right decision, and that Poles have been able to seize and continue to seize the opportunities presented to them. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of accession, Poczta Polska and the Polish Security Printing Works have jointly produced a commemorative stamp.

PWPW designed the graphic design for the note, which features a photo of the European Parliament in Strasbourg. The choice of the European Parliament building as the primary element of the graphic design is not accidental. This emphasizes the importance of the fact that Members of Parliament are elected by all citizens of the Community in a universal, direct vote, making this institution the most democratic body of the European Union, fully embodying the EU motto: "United in diversity."

The stamp's graphic in the block, in addition to the European Parliament building, features a map of the countries that currently make up the European Union. The First Day of Circulation (FDC) envelope accompanying the issue is decorated with the intertwining flags of Poland and the European Union, while the date stamp features a stylized engraving of the Polish flag.
