5 million stamps for the PKP PLK social campaign – Safe Journey

Safe Passage_stamp_31.25x25.5_03Poczta Polska has introduced a new Safe Crossing stamp – "Risk Barrier!" – into circulation. By issuing 5 million stamps, the postal operator supports the message of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe SA's social campaign to reduce accidents at rail and road crossings. The campaign has been running for 15 years.

The "Safe Crossing – Risk Barrier!" stamp is available at all post offices, over 7,600 locations nationwide. In addition to the stamp, Poczta Polska has issued a limited edition First Day of Delivery (FDC) envelope, an envelope issued on the first day of circulation for the stamps. It features a photo of a train at a level crossing and a commemorative date stamp accompanying the philatelic issue.

The Safe Crossing stamp – "Risk Barrier!" – is being issued in a limited edition of 5 million pieces. Its 31.25 x 25.5 mm surface features a graphic of tracks and a red-and-white sign informing drivers of an approaching rail-road crossing. The stamp's designer, Jan Konarzewski, also included the campaign's name.

The Safe Crossing – "Risk Barrier!" social campaign, conducted for 15 years, aims to reduce incidents at rail-road crossings by raising awareness among road users. As part of the campaign, PLK conducts workshops for driving instructors and WORD examiners, conducts preventive actions at crossings, and delivers educational lectures in schools and preschools.

An important action was to mark all rail-road crossings with yellow stickers with additional information, allowing for a quick response, especially if a car stalls at the crossing.
