Polish Post: Anna Jantar honored with a stamp from the "Stars of Polish Music" series
The Polish Post has introduced another stamp from the "Stars of Polish Music" series. This year's issue is dedicated to Anna Jantar. The stamp was issued on the artist's birthday, recognizing her extraordinary work and invaluable contribution to the history of Polish music in the 1970s and 1980s.
Anna Jantar, known for her unique voice and extraordinary charisma, was one of the most talented artists in the history of Polish music. Her unforgettable hits, such as "Tyle Słońca w Wspólne Miasto" (So Much Sun in the Whole City) and "Nic nie może będzie (Nothing Can Last Forever), captured the hearts of millions of fans and remain an important part of the golden age of Polish music.
The new philatelic issue, designed by graphic artist Agnieszka Sancewicz, was created in close collaboration with Anna Jantar's daughter, singer Natalia Kukulska. The stamp features a black-and-white photograph of the singer, based on a photo by Marek Karewicz, complemented by a facsimile of her autograph. An additional asset is the design of the FDC envelope, featuring photos by legendary photographer Lesław Sagan, who photographed the stars of Polish music, taken during the Golden Record Award Gala for Anna Jantar at the Sopot Festival in 1976, as well as the titles of hits selected by her daughter. The commemorative date stamp is a graphic continuation of the date stamps from the Stars of Polish Music series, based on the graphic concept of Marzanna Dąbrowska, who developed the artistic expression of this stamp series.
Anna Jantar began her musical career at the age of 16, winning a competition at the Sopot Festival. Her 1973 debut album, "Odszeli już wszystkie męskie," was a resounding success and launched a decade-long career full of hits. The artist won the hearts of listeners not only with her unique voice, but also with her emotional performances and lyrics that touched deeply on human emotions. Her greatest hits, such as "Tyle Słońca w Wspólne Miasto," "Nic nie może będzie" (Nothing Can Last Forever), and "Moje tylko marzenia" (My Only Dream), remain widely known and beloved by fans of Polish music to this day.
Anna Jantar died in a plane crash on March 14, 1980. Her sudden death shook the Polish music scene and left an unfilled void in the hearts of many fans. The Polish singer passed away too soon, but her music lives on and continues to move generations.
