Want to send something to your family for the holidays outside the EU? Check out the important announcement from Poczta Polska.

Poczta Polska has important information for all customers who send parcels to countries and territories outside the European Union. This is especially important during the Christmas and New Year period, when most of us send gifts to loved ones.

The Polish Post reminds that completing and attaching customs declarations for shipments to countries and territories outside the EU is the responsibility of shippers. This is essential to ensure proper shipment handling and timely delivery to the recipient.

Sender's obligations - declarations in case of shipment

  • Senders of letter items containing goods addressed to countries and territories outside the EU are obliged to list the contents in detail in the CN 22 or CN 23 and to certify with a signature that their shipments do not contain any dangerous items prohibited by postal regulations.
  • Senders of postal parcels addressed to countries and territories outside the EU are obliged to list the contents in detail on the CP 72 and to certify with a signature that the parcels do not contain any dangerous article prohibited by postal regulations.

A Polish Post employee is obligated to refuse to accept a shipment without the appropriate documentation. Please note that the lack of a customs declaration will result in the shipment being detained at the border and potentially delayed delivery. Furthermore, foreign post offices may refuse to accept the shipment, which may result in additional logistical complications and costs for the sender.

A shipper who misrepresents the contents of a shipment also exposes the recipient to delivery delays and the need to provide explanations to customs authorities in the destination country. A correctly completed customs declaration also includes indicating the actual value of the goods being shipped.
