Digitalization of Poczta Polska: new machines for e-Delivery
Poczta Polska is seeing dynamic growth in its Public Hybrid Service (PUH) as part of its e-Delivery service. The volume of parcels produced is steadily growing – in October, it reached over 11 million printed pages. Poczta Polska recently purchased four new machines to power its Printing and Packaging Centers (OWiK) in Piła and Łódź, essential for the execution of existing contracts and PUH operations.
The e-Delivery service enables secure online communication, not only between citizens and public administration, but also in the business sphere (B2B, B2C) and between individuals. Poczta Polska's digital solution is a secure, trustworthy service. It is intended to systematically replace traditional registered mail, while guaranteeing the same legal validity as paper correspondence.
Poczta Polska launched e-Delivery in October 2021. These are digital equivalents of paper registered letters, enabling the sending and receiving of electronic documents with confirmation of posting and receipt from anywhere with internet access. Instead of receiving a delivery note, physically picking up and sending registered letters at a post office, and archiving paper correspondence, this can now be done electronically. The service works similarly to email but is much more secure. Starting January 1, 2025, it will become mandatory for some entities, eventually becoming a general requirement.
How the hybrid service works
Aware of the fact that some citizens do not want or cannot fully use digital services (e.g. due to the problem of digital exclusion), Poczta Polska is meeting their needs with the Public Hybrid Service (PUH).
An electronic shipment, e.g. from an office to a recipient who does not have an electronic delivery address (ADE), is transferred to the Polish Post system, where it is automatically printed and enveloped in specialized Printing and Packaging Centers, in a separate zone with access control (to ensure the highest standards of personal data protection), and then sent to transport and delivered in the traditional way to the recipient.
New machines for printing parcels
Due to the dynamic growth in PUH volume and the favorable growth prospects in this segment, the company is investing in new enveloping and printing machines to fulfill existing contracts and provide the Public Hybrid Service. Poczta Polska recently purchased four new machines to power its Printing and Packaging Centers in Piła and Łódź, which are essential for fulfilling existing contracts and handling hybrid shipments.
The Kern 3600 is a high-performance enveloping system with a very high processing volume of up to 24,000 envelopes per hour. It is characterized by efficiency, productivity, and very high reliability. The high-performance document feeder allows for operation at speeds of up to 50,000 sheets per hour, improving the efficiency of enveloping shipments containing a larger number of sheets per envelope. The enveloping and printing machine purchased for OWIK in Piła, in addition to its basic functions, also features the ability to print data on the envelope during the enveloping process.
Additionally, the Centers were equipped with additional Canon printing machines. The purchased printers are the fastest available on the market. Their output speeds are: simplex – 164 A4 pages per minute, duplex – 328 pages per minute, with a maximum monthly workload of up to 10 million A4 pages.
Safety guarantee
Poczta Polska guarantees the highest level of security for its hybrid service, meeting security requirements for printing, packaging, scanning, and document processing. Furthermore, it ensures compliance with postal secrecy, i.e., information transmitted in shipments and the data of entities using postal services.
