The first e-delivery vehicles join the Poczta Polska fleet

Poczta Polska currently has the largest fleet of electric utility vehicles in Poland.

In the coming days, electric cars will arrive in Białystok, Bydgoszcz, Gdańsk, Katowice, Kraków, Lublin, Łódź, Poznań, Szczecin, Warsaw, and Wrocław. The state-owned company's electric car rental is consistent with the Ministry of Energy's "Electromobility Development Plan in Poland," which is part of the "Plan for Responsible Development."

Arval Service Lease Polska Sp. z o.o. will provide vehicles for the Polish Post Office (Poczta Polska) in a long-term rental service. The Polish Post Office will benefit from a 36-month lease of these vehicles, including servicing. This service is particularly advantageous for electric cars. Those who choose long-term rental can benefit from eco-friendly mobility without committing significant capital to purchasing a vehicle. They also don't have to worry about the vehicle depreciating – this risk is assumed by the lessor.

A full vehicle insurance package in terms of third party liability and comprehensive insurance, along with personal accident protection, will be provided by the Postal Mutual Insurance Company.

Long-term rental is becoming increasingly popular in Poland. According to research by the Arval Mobility Observatory, as many as 44% of mid-sized businesses plan to increase the share of operational leasing in their fleet financing over the next three years. Since the beginning of 2019, one in five new company cars in Poland has been leased through Full Service Leasing. Interest in electric vehicles is also growing, and the Polish public sector has the potential to become a pioneer in these positive, pro-ecological changes.

Poczta Polska is the largest logistics operator in the country. Poczta Polska employees have at their disposal 6,000 vehicles with a capacity of 0.5–24 tons, 30% of which are less than four years old. Over 30,000 postmen and couriers deliver several million parcels daily.

The Polish Post Office is counting on the benefits of renting electric cars. Experts estimate that they are less prone to breakdowns and cheaper than combustion engines. This is due, among other things, to the fact that electric cars lack a gearbox and clutch, which can be expensive to repair. Electric cars don't require engine oil changes, and brake pads and discs wear out much slower. This is due, in part, to the fact that the brakes in electric cars are used less frequently than in combustion cars. During stopping, a large portion of the energy is absorbed by regenerative braking, which recharges the battery. Above all, however, charging the battery is cheaper than refueling.

Since 2018, the company has been conducting Poland's largest tests of electric vehicles available on the domestic market. In April of last year, vehicles from seven manufacturer brands, with a payload of up to 800 kg, participated. For three months, Poczta Polska drivers tested factors such as driving characteristics (e.g., acceleration, speed, braking, maneuverability), driving comfort and ergonomics, battery charging methods, and the maximum mileage. During this time, in addition to the vehicles, various types of charging stations provided by their owners were also tested. In mid-May of this year, further tests of electric vehicles up to 3.5 tons, this time with a payload exceeding 800 kg, were completed. Eight vehicles from brands available on the Polish market participated. Recently, Poczta Polska drivers tested tractor-trailers powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG).
