Delivery of parcels during the epidemic by Poczta Polska

pp_1Poczta Polska maintains strict security standards for parcel delivery. Parcel collection based on a PIN has been implemented, as well as delivery without the requirement to obtain a receipt, or directly to a mailbox. Only in the case of registered parcels, among others, under special conditions, is delivery to the addresses of individuals in quarantine suspended. These parcels will be delivered after the quarantine period ends.

"The safety of our customers and employees is paramount to us at Poczta Polska, which is why we have adopted solutions that will enable the delivery of pensions, annuities, and parcels to individuals in quarantine in a way that minimizes the risk of infection. At the same time, based on agreements with representatives of the judiciary, we are storing free of charge parcels sent under special conditions to quarantined addresses to avoid the notification process. Such parcels will be delivered to the recipients after the mandatory quarantine or isolation period specified by sanitary authorities has elapsed ," says Justyna Siwek, spokesperson for Poczta Polska.

Registered parcels are kept by the Post Office until the quarantine ends.

During the epidemic, Poczta Polska exceptionally does not deliver registered letters sent by:

  • Courts and Tribunals
  • prosecutor's office and other law enforcement agencies
  • court bailiff
  • other senders for registered letter items sent:
    • with confirmation of receipt or
    • with Electronic Confirmation of Receipt (EPO) or
    • with a declared value or
    • covered by the reservation submitted by the addressee regarding their delivery to an adult residing together with the addressee.

Furthermore, parcels and courier shipments sent by courts and tribunals, prosecutors' offices, other law enforcement agencies, and bailiffs are excluded from the delivery process. These shipments are stored free of charge at post offices, without any delivery attempt. This solution means that the notification period is suspended during the storage period, and therefore the proceedings are also suspended. Delivery will only be attempted after the recipient completes quarantine.

Payment of money transfers to people in quarantine

Pensioners and retirees under quarantine will receive their benefits on time, in secure envelopes, which are delivered to the designated address using security measures. The money is pre-counted by a commission at post offices. When receiving the benefit from the postman, remember to maintain a safe distance (at least 1.5 meters). This special procedure applies to all money transfers to enable the transfer of benefits and other benefits to those in need.

PIN instead of signature

To reduce the risk of coronavirus infection, Poczta Polska has simplified parcel collection. As of May 28, 2020, parcels and courier shipments can be collected using a PIN code received via text message or email, which must be provided to the courier upon delivery.

Poczta Polska (Polish Post) is constantly providing its employees with personal protective equipment, including masks, face shields, disposable gloves, and antibacterial gels and liquids. To minimize the risk of infection, all Poczta Polska sorting offices are being proactively disinfected.
