The "Pocztowy Dar" Foundation supports another hospital
The "Pocztowy Dar" Foundation supported the purchase of specialized medical equipment for University Hospital No. 2 named after Dr. Jan Biziel in Bydgoszcz. This donation is consistent with Poczta Polska's social responsibility initiatives, including supporting institutions fighting the coronavirus and improving the safety of Poles. In total, nearly PLN 550,000 in donations has been allocated for this purpose to date.
The "Pocztowy Dar" Foundation donated PLN 100,000 to University Hospital No. 2 named after Dr. Jan Biziel in Bydgoszcz. The funds were used to purchase an ultrasound machine with a needle navigation system and two high-flow nasal oxygen therapy devices.
A high-flow nasal oxygen therapy device will be used to treat patients infected with the SARS-COV-2 virus. Providing patients with high-flow oxygen allows for the avoidance of ventilator therapy in many cases. An ultrasound device with a needle navigation system will also be used for highly specialized diagnostics of patients infected with the virus and will enable the administration of life-saving medications via central intravenous or intraarterial infusions.
( Polish Post) is actively supporting efforts to combat the epidemic. It is participating in the transport of medical devices and personal protective equipment, and postal sorting centers were used as storage facilities for disinfectants, protective materials, and medical devices. Further financial support from the "Pocztowy Dar" Foundation for the purchase of new equipment for the hospital in Bydgoszcz is very good news for patients and medical staff. This is another step on the path to our health and safety, " emphasizes Krzysztof Falkowski, Vice President of Poczta Polska.
Foundation has provided funding for the treatment of hospitalized patients infected with the COVID-19 virus. Ultrasound with a navigation system enables immediate, preliminary diagnosis of pathology of the lungs, heart, vessels, and the entire abdominal cavity in patients with severe COVID-19, and also allows physicians to navigate venous and arterial catheters. Two high-flow nasal oxygen therapy (HFNOT) devices are a new method of oxygen supplementation used for approximately 10 years in patients with respiratory failure. This equipment allows for high flows (up to 60 l/min) in nasal cannulas and precisely adjusts high oxygen concentrations in the inhaled gas mixture. We have 49 stations for COVID-19 patients at University Hospital No. 2, and the funding received through the "Pocztowy Dar" Foundation from the Polish Post Office was allocated to the purchase of highly specialized equipment that will help our patients. On behalf of the employees using the above-mentioned services, we are pleased to announce that we have received funding from the Polish Post Office. equipment and the Hospital Management Board, thank you for your understanding and support in this extremely difficult time for all of us - emphasizes Dr. Wanda Korzycka-Wilińska, director of the University Hospital No. 2 named after Dr. J. Biziel in Bydgoszcz.
In May of last year, the "Pocztowy Dar" Foundation purchased specialized medical equipment, a so-called immunological analyzer, which was donated to the Regional Blood Donation and Treatment Center in Białystok. It can accurately determine the level of anti-SARS-CoV-IgA and anti-SARS-CoV-IgG antibodies in blood plasma from recovered patients, allowing the preparation of appropriate doses of therapeutic plasma for COVID-19 patients. The Regional Blood Donation and Treatment Center in Białystok is preparing such preparations for patients in infectious diseases hospitals across the country. To date, the analyzer has enabled the testing of 11,000 samples obtained from recovered patients across the country. These include samples obtained from the Regional Blood Donation and Treatment Center in Białystok and samples from all Regional Blood Donation and Treatment Centers in Poland.
" The Pocztowy Dar Foundation has been helping postal workers and their families for 10 years, and has now expanded its activities to include support for the fight against the epidemic. The Foundation would not be able to help so many people without its donors – both employees who generously support all our initiatives and individuals unrelated to Poczta Polska. In addition to donations from Poczta Polska and companies within the Poczta Polska Group, support for both one-time initiatives and ongoing, systematic assistance is crucial. This is an important element of our social work, in which people play a key role. We believe that by working together, we will overcome the epidemic, " says Bogusława Kłoda-Dębska, President of the Pocztowy Dar Foundation.
The Foundation's support also went to other medical institutions in Poland: the District Hospital in Ryki, the Provincial Specialist Hospital named after: Blessed Virgin Mary in Częstochowa, the Zagłębie Oncology Center Specialist Hospital named after Sz. Starkiewicz in Dąbrowa Górnicza, the Provincial Multi-Specialist Center for Oncology and Traumatology named after M. Copernicus in Łódź, the Józef Polikarp Brudziński University Clinical Hospital in Warsaw, the Independent Public Healthcare Facility named after Dr. Kazimierz Hołoga in Nowy Tomyśl, and the Independent Public Healthcare Complex – District Hospital named after the Polish Red Cross in Nisko. The funds were allocated to the purchase of items such as infusion and nutritional pumps, laboratory equipment for coronavirus analysis, a defibrillator for ambulance equipment, a drive system for an isolation chamber used for patient transport, and personal protective equipment for medical staff and patients. Some of these items will benefit more than just those suffering from COVID-19. Equipment purchased thanks to the Pocztowy Dar Foundation will continue to serve hospitals and their patients for years to come.
