300x300The Jan Maksymilian Moszczyński monument is located at the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv. He was an important figure not only for the Polish Post but also for all of Poland. His work influenced postal services provided at important moments in our country's history. The "Pocztowy Dar" Foundation is raising funds to restore his monument and preserve the memory of this distinguished Pole. In organizing the collection, the "Pocztowy Dar" Foundation is collaborating with the Society of Friends of Lviv and the Eastern Borderlands, which has been organizing collections at Warsaw cemeteries for over thirty years to support the renovation of Lviv cemeteries and Polish monuments in Lviv and the Southeastern Borderlands. It also cultivates the traditions and culture of Lviv and the Southeastern Borderlands and provides charitable assistance to compatriots beyond the eastern border.

Jan Moszczyński was born on May 23, 1869, in Lviv. After graduating from the Faculty of Law at the University of Lviv, he worked for 28 years at the Directorate of Posts and Telegraphs in Lviv. After Poland regained independence, he began working at the Ministry of Posts and Telegraphs. There, he held positions including head of the Central Board of Field Posts at the Ministry of Posts and Telegraphs in Warsaw, head of the Postal Department in the Ministry of the Former Prussian District, and director of the Postal Department in the Ministry of Posts and Telegraphs. From 1922 to 1923, he headed the ministry in the governments of Julian Nowak and Władysław Sikorski, and then served as minister of the same ministry in the government of Wincenty Witos. In 1924, after the establishment of the General Directorate of Posts and Telegraphs, Jan Moszczyński was appointed director general of posts and telegraphs. He held this position until May 12, 1926. After the May Coup, he was retired. After his death on December 2, 1932, he was buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery.
