The Polish Post Foundation collects 1.5% of your tax and finances assistance for families in need
The Polish Post Office Foundation "Postal Gift" was established 14 years ago. Almost from its inception, it has held the status of a Public Benefit Organization, allowing you to donate 1.5% of your tax to its benefit. All funds raised through this initiative are used by the Foundation to help those in its care. In recent years, this has been one way to finance support for families in difficult circumstances, among other things, through the "Postal Christmas" program.
The Postal Foundation's beneficiaries include children and young people, the sick and disabled, and victims of natural disasters and catastrophes. "Pocztowy Dar" co-finances the purchase of medicines, medical equipment, and rehabilitation. It also helps orphaned postal children by awarding them social scholarships and postal families facing difficult life circumstances, including serious illnesses. It also supports social projects, collaborates with organizations and institutions that help those in need, and engages postal workers in helping others through volunteering.
For many years, one of the Foundation's flagship projects has been the "Postal Christmas" campaign, which provides pre-holiday assistance to postal families struggling with serious problems—their own serious, chronic, or incurable illnesses, or the illness or disability of loved ones. Every year before Christmas, the Foundation organizes material and financial assistance for them, recently provided in the form of gift cards. Years of experience have shown that this is the most convenient form of support for those in need.
Funds for the "Postal Christmas" project come from 1.5% of the Foundation's tax collection and donor contributions for this specific purpose. Last year, the Foundation raised PLN 167,384,000 from this 1.5% alone. Adding to this funding from donations, "Postal Gift" purchased cards for nearly 170 families. A year earlier, the Foundation received approximately PLN 190,000 from taxpayers, and two years earlier, approximately PLN 150,000. Since the project's inception, nearly 500 families have received assistance through "Postal Christmas."
"Pocztowy Dar" (Postal Gift) helps more than just postal workers. It also engages in donation drives at post offices, among other initiatives. In 2023, nearly 6 million złoty . These donations primarily went to residents of residential care facilities, family orphanages, community centers, hospices, social welfare homes, educational and care centers, as well as to patients in cardiology, cardiac surgery, and transplant departments, and to families facing financial hardship.
The Foundation obtains funding for its operations from several sources. In addition to contributions from the 1.5% tax rate, it also receives donations from Poczta Polska (Polish Post Office), Poczta Polska Group, and individual donors. Each month, the Foundation's account is regularly credited with pledges from Poczta Polska employees as part of the "Złotówka od Salsji" (Polish Post Office Employees' Salary Donation) campaign (donating a specified, pledged amount from their salaries to the Foundation's statutory activities).
