Poczta Polska customers are buying more and more books
Over 3.5 million copies of books were sold at Poczta Polska branches in 2019. This is nearly 4% more than in 2018.
Last year was exceptional due to the Nobel Prize in Literature awarded to Olga Tokarczuk. Over 50,000 of the Nobel laureate's books were sold through post offices. Other new releases also generated considerable interest.
Heather Morris's new novel, "Cilka's Journey," achieved the highest sales in January, while her "The Tattooist of Auschwitz" was also among the most popular titles. Among the books available for purchase by mail are "The Sermon on the Areopagus" by Karol Wojtyła, "Voices from the Afterlife" by Remigiusz Mróz, "The End of Loneliness" by Janusz Leon Wiśniewski, and "Cudne anaowce" by Magda Grzebyk.
Last year, Poczta Polska customers spent approximately PLN 425 million on products sold at its branches. Book and newspaper sales accounted for as much as 25 percent of sales revenue. Publishing sales are particularly important in small towns and rural areas.
