More "green" initiatives from Pocztowcy. Volunteers are helping rebuild more forests.

State ForestsPoczta Polska (Polish Post) continues its collaboration with the State Forests to protect the natural environment. Volunteers – Poczta Polska employees – have been participating in forest planting campaigns since October 2020. As part of the latest initiative alone, Poczta Polska employees planted 1,000 pine seedlings in a single November day, while those in Wrocław planted 1,700 oak trees!

This time, Polish Post employees supported a forest restoration effort near Dębska Kuźnia, in Opole County. Between 2015 and 2019, droughts caused 20 hectares of forest to dry out.

Foresters decided to clear the area of dead trees. However, the pine forest will not be consigned to history. Thanks to the commitment of 20 volunteers from the Opole Region of the Polish Post Network, the forest stand can be restored.

In November, the Post Office employees planted nearly 1,000 pine seedlings. Their colleagues from the Wrocław Network Region followed suit. Despite difficult weather conditions, they planted as many as 1,700 oak trees in the Osolin Forest District. Both of these campaigns were possible thanks to the cooperation between the national operator and the State Forests, which began in January of this year.

This isn't the first such campaign involving Poczta Polska employees. On October 20, 2020, in Solec Kujawski, postal workers from the Bydgoszcz Network Region planted 462 trees, a symbol of Poczta Polska's age. The campaign was very well received by both volunteer employees and foresters. The postal workers' commitment and the noble idea of corporate social responsibility activities provided the impetus for formalizing the cooperation. The agreement between Poczta Polska and the State Forests signed in January of this year created a framework for further regional initiatives. This year, despite the pandemic, several such campaigns were successfully completed.

In May of this year, Postmen from the Olsztyn Network Region helped renew a forest in the Wipsowo Forest District. In late September, Postmen from the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, in a joint effort with foresters from the Daleszyce Forest District, planted a young forest.

It's worth noting that 30 years ago, there were an average of 99 trees per Pole in forests managed by the State Forests. Today, although the population hasn't changed significantly since then, the average is 161 trees per capita, an increase of 63. This is the result of changes in the Polish mindset and greater environmental concern on the part of businesses. As a socially responsible company, Poczta Polska actively engages in pro-ecological initiatives and adapts its operating model to more stringent standards that reduce the company's impact on the climate.
