International Postman and Deliverer Day

International Postman and Deliverer Day

PostmanThe profession of a postman is unique. It requires honesty, accuracy, and above all, a sense of duty. It is thanks to postmen that we receive our parcels – ordered goods, money orders, and documents. February 16th is International Postman and Delivery Day.

Poczta Polska's postmen reach every corner of the country, and thanks to their excellent knowledge of their local areas, they could serve as guides. They assist customers with limited mobility by not only delivering correspondence but also accepting packages from them, which they then drop off at a post office.

Postmen are often people with big hearts, not indifferent to the problems of others. They demonstrate courage and responsibility – they have proven this many times by saving lives and property. And during the pandemic, despite the introduced restrictions and new requirements, they continued their work uninterrupted.

Did you know that…

  • The Polish Post employs approximately 25,000 postmen and couriers.
  • They deliver over 4 million postal items daily, covering approximately 1 million kilometers!
  • Our deliverers use a variety of means of transportation, adapted to the density of their areas. Pedestrians typically serve cities, drivers serve rural areas, and cyclists serve suburban areas.
  • Postmen celebrate one more day of the year – Communications Day. On October 18, 1558, King Sigismund II Augustus established the Royal Post Office, which transported messages on the Kraków-Vienna-Venice route. The anniversary of this event is celebrated as Polish Post Day.

We extend our warmest wishes to all postmen and couriers for every success in their professional and personal lives, and for good health! On this special day, we thank them for the effort, dedication, and commitment they bring to their responsible work.
