A surprise from the Polish Post for sports and philately enthusiasts: a stamp featuring Aleksandra Mirosław
The Polish Post has introduced a postage stamp into circulation honoring the historic success of Aleksandra Mirosław – Olympic champion in speed climbing – achieved during the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.
This year's issue is part of the "Poland and Polish Gold Medalists" series, showcasing the achievements of Polish athletes on the international stage. The stamp features an image of Aleksandra Mirosław holding an Olympic gold medal. The TEAM PL logo, promoting the Polish Olympic team, appears in the background.
The stamp is accompanied by a first-day-of-circulation (FDC) envelope featuring a photograph of Aleksandra Mirosław during her final performance at the Games. This extraordinary image captures the champion's effort, determination, and euphoria after her success. A commemorative date stamp is included with the issue, referencing her gold medal in Paris, a symbol of both personal achievement and a unique moment in Polish sport.
A spectacular timed climb – a historic success for Aleksandra Mirosław
Sport climbing, one of the most spectacular disciplines, debuted at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021, but was not held as a separate event until Paris in 2024. Aleksandra Mirosław impressed from the start, dominating the competition. In the qualifying rounds, she set a new world record, completing the course in 6.06 seconds. In the final, Mirosław faced China's Lijuan Deng, winning by 0.08 seconds. The Polish athlete's time of 6.10 seconds secured her place in Olympic sport climbing history and the title of Olympic champion. During the Games, Mirosław demonstrated her class, twice breaking her own world records in the qualifying rounds.
