Last chance to vote in the EUROPA 2021 philatelic competition
There's still time until September 9th to vote for a Polish Post stamp entered into the prestigious "EUROPA 2021" philatelic competition. The theme of this year's edition is "Animals in danger of extinction." Polish Post has submitted a stamp depicting the Eurasian lynx, whose population is declining in Poland and across Europe. A total of 52 designs are competing in the competition.
The Polish Post competition stamp depicts the largest cat on the Old Continent, protected in Poland: the Eurasian lynx. Bożydar Grozdew, the designer of the Polish stamp, symbolically depicted the disappearing animal.
Lynx, whose population is being restored, have recently established themselves in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship and have appeared in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, which raises hopes that their occurrence in Poland will increase.
The competition for the most beautiful EUROPA stamp has been organized by PostEurop since 2002. The EUROPA stamps are intended to express cooperation between postal operators and promote philately. The themes that emerge in subsequent years highlight the common roots, culture, history, and shared goals of the nations of Europe.
It's worth noting that the voting rules have changed this year. Only the combined votes of PostEurop's member postal operators, the public, and philatelic experts will determine the three winning stamps. The top two groups will vote online from May 9 to September 9, 2021, and we encourage you to do so. Experts will evaluate the printed stamps in the second half of September 2021. The final results will be announced in October 2021, during the PostEurop Plenary Assembly.
