We warn against new scam attempts and phishing campaigns

phishing scamsCybercriminals continue to extort money from Poczta Polska (Polish Post) customers. In recent days, attacks on customers have been repeated. Perpetrators impersonate the Polish Post in text messages, informing them of the need to pay extra for a supposedly expected shipment. In another variant of the scam, fraudsters call Polish Post customers to obtain their addresses, also under the pretext of a pending shipment. They seek address information and information about valuable items. Please exercise caution.

Impersonating Poczta Polska in text messages addressed to our customers has become a new type of fraud. The crime involves sending text messages to potential Poczta Polska customers, informing them that they need to pay a surcharge for a pending shipment. The attached link, however, redirects them to a fake website, posing as the Poczta Polska website. While losing the small amount of money claimed as a surcharge isn't the most painful, providing fraudsters with the data they can use to steal funds from your account can be much more painful.

Criminals are also trying to modify the "grandson" scam. This time, they pose as a postal worker and call to inform customers about a package waiting to be delivered. They try to extort address information from customers. Then, a scammer, posing as a police officer chasing the parcel fraudster, calls the same people and asks about valuables in the apartment.

We urge customers to be vigilant. Messages requesting additional payment (especially in a currency other than PLN) for a shipment are not used by Poczta Polska and are most likely fake. It's worth paying attention to sloppy spelling or misspellings on the scammers' website. You should not provide personal information or transfer any money as a result of contacts with strangers, such as those described. You should also avoid clicking on links attached to text messages of unknown origin. You should also avoid emails that have been used in similar crimes in the past.
