The beauty of Poland captured on a new series of postage stamps

FDC_GORSKIThe Branicki Palace in Białystok, the mosque in Kruszyniany, the Orthodox monastery in Supraśl, the historic church in Tykocin, the bison reserve in Białowieża National Park, and the picturesque panorama of Drohiczyn – these are the pearls of Podlasie, captured in the photographs used in the latest series of postage stamps. Starting April 28th, they can be admired on six philatelic items from the new "Beauty of Poland" issue.

The stamps were officially unveiled on May 6th of this year at the Icon Museum in Supraśl, during a special presentation attended by Jacek Sasin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State Assets – the project's initiator – and Jan Kanthak, Deputy Minister of State Assets. Polish Post was represented at the ceremony by Tomasz Zdzikot, President of the Company, and Wiesław Włodek, Vice President. Regional representatives attended the presentation: Bohdan Paszkowski, Voivode of Podlaskie, and Artur Kosicki, Marshal of the Podlaskie Voivodeship. Jarosław Stawiarski, Marshal of the Lublin Voivodeship, also attended the ceremony.

" Poland is rich in places worth visiting, both in terms of nature, architecture, historical monuments, and unique works of culture and art. I am convinced that issuing the 'Beauty of Poland' postage stamps will contribute to the promotion of exceptional places both in Podlasie and throughout our country, " emphasizes Jacek Sasin, Minister of State Assets.

Podlasie is a unique region – it tempts with both beautiful nature and a fascinating culture in which, like in a melting pot, different faces of Slavic identity mingle with Tatar and Jewish traditions.

" The initiative to capture Poland's beautiful places on stamps is perfectly aligned with the Polish Post's mission, although, admittedly, it is extremely challenging to implement. The number of unique corners of our country that deserve such a presentation is enormous. We decided to dedicate the first stamp block in the "Beauty of Poland" series to Podlasie. This region boasts both beautiful nature and charming landscapes, as well as interesting architecture and gems of cultural heritage, " says Tomasz Zdzikot, President of Poczta Polska.

Podlasie is distinguished by its extraordinary natural environment. This region, immortalized on a new series of stamps, is a true enclave of biodiversity. A symbol of its uniqueness, not only on a national scale but even on the entire continent, is the Białowieża Forest, the only preserved primeval forest in Europe. The entire Podlasie region also boasts beautiful views – the Bug and Narew rivers create picturesque meanders, framed by peaceful fields, meadows, and forests. The hospitality and openness of the local people are renowned throughout Poland.

" In 2022, Poczta Polska began issuing several very interesting series of stamps focusing on nature and landscapes. Podlasie, as the first geographical region featured in the series, is a prime example of the diversity of cultures and traditions that make up our nation's heritage. The centuries-old coexistence of followers of different religions is evident primarily in the region's architecture. I believe that the pearls of Podlasie featured on our stamps will encourage Poles to learn more about the history, beauty of nature, and rich customs of this region, " says Wiesław Włodek, Vice President of Poczta Polska.

The coins, designed by Jarosław Ochendzan, with a face value of PLN 3.60 are also accompanied by three FDC envelopes, on which you can admire the Podlasie landscapes around the Bug River and the Orthodox church in Puchły.
