Post offices have started distributing the autumn offer of subsidized agricultural insurance
The Postal Mutual Insurance Company (PTUW) has begun selling crop insurance subsidized by the state budget. Agricultural producers can expect subsidies of up to 65% of their premiums. This year, insurance companies have a larger pool of funds at their disposal than before. PTUW insurance products are distributed through the Polish Post network.
Dedicated agricultural insurance products, "Safe Crops" and "Safe Animals," are available through Poczta Polska's extensive network of branches. Farmers can easily, quickly, and close to home ensure their crops and livestock are protected, including from the effects of winter.
In 2021, pursuant to a Regulation of the Council of Ministers, agricultural producers will be eligible for state subsidies for insurance premiums, amounting to up to 65% of the premium. Policyholders pay the premium less the subsidy amount. Subsidized crop insurance contracts are concluded until the subsidy limit for a given year is exhausted. An additional PLN 500 million has been allocated for the autumn crop insurance campaign, bringing the total pool to PLN 900 million. In 2022, subsidies will total PLN 1.42 billion.
"Safe Crops" insurance product provides agricultural producers with protection against accidental events resulting from risks such as hail, adverse effects of overwintering, spring frosts, hurricanes, heavy rain, lightning, landslides, avalanches, floods, droughts, and fires (unsubsidized insurance). The insurance coverage is available in three options: the Basic Winter Package, the Winter Package, and the Winter Climate Package.
This season, as part of the PTUW "Safe Crops" offer, you can insure:
- winter cereals:
- winter wheat,
- winter barley,
- winter triticale,
- rye,
- rapeseed and turnip rape,
- winter vetch,
- cereal mixtures,
and with the consent of the society's headquarters:
- planting fruit trees and bushes,
- cereal and legume mixtures,
- winter peas.
It is possible to supplement the above-mentioned variants with additional voluntary crop insurance against fire (applies to crops: cereals, rapeseed, turnip rape and legumes).
Under the "Safe Animals" , insurance coverage may be provided for farm animals such as cattle, horses, sheep, goats, poultry and pigs.
The insurance, depending on the variant selected, provides protection against the risk of damage caused by: hurricane, flood, heavy rain, hail, lightning, landslides, avalanche, emergency slaughter following the above-mentioned events, fire (unsubsidized insurance, does not apply to poultry), electric shock (unsubsidized insurance, does not apply to poultry).
Since 2017, subsidized agricultural insurance policies have complemented the comprehensive offering for farmers offered by the post office network. In the fall of 2020, the highest product sales were recorded in the Warmian-Masurian, Greater Poland, and Masovian Voivodeships.
