Payments by payment card at post offices

payment_card_in_placowce_poczta_polska_4_Residents of Katowice, Poznań, and Warsaw are most likely to use payment cards at Poczta Polska branches. Among the most popular cashless services, postal services, including postage stamps, are the most frequently chosen, according to the "Study of Payment Preferences of Post Office Customers .

The survey was conducted at 291 post offices between February 18 and March 1 of this year. The survey focused on locations where more than 300 cashless transactions were processed in January. Among the provincial capitals, residents of Katowice, Poznań, Warsaw, Kraków, and Wrocław were most likely to use payment cards. Customers in Opole, Kielce, and Gorzów Wielkopolski were least likely to use this option.

The survey shows that customers most often pay by card for postal services (48%) and commercial goods (19.6%). Poczta Polska (Polish Post) introduced card payments in June 2016. It accepts VISA and MasterCard payments, including contactless payments, as well as BLIK mobile payments. Holders of cards from foreign banks can conveniently make payments in the card's currency (DCC service).

In addition to cashless payments, post offices offer a wide range of services via POS terminals, including:

  • cash-back for card payments (a service thanks to which the customer can conveniently withdraw small amounts of money at a post office – up to PLN 300 for a VISA card, up to PLN 500 for a MasterCard card),
  • cash withdrawal – a service addressed to people who often use the option of withdrawing cash at a counter (not only to pay for services) and to residents of smaller towns for whom a post office is closer and more convenient than an ATM,
  • top-ups for mobile phones from mobile operators such as: T-Mobile, Heyah, TAK-TAK, Orange, Nju Mobile, Plus, Play, Telegrosik, LycaMobile and VirginMobile,
  • sale of vouchers – distribution of unique combinations of characters (electronic code), allowing payments to be made on online services, including for services or deliveries.
