Poczta Polska cares about the safety of its customers and employees
Constantly equipping postal workers with personal protective equipment, measuring the temperature of employees of sorting offices, postal branches and offices, regular disinfection of sorting rooms – these are just some of the measures taken by Poczta Polska to ensure the safety of customers and employees.
The country's largest employer has implemented a range of measures and procedures to limit the spread of the epidemic. Given the company's size, employment level, and the number of post offices and sorting plants, the scale of the undertaking and the associated costs are significant. The Coronavirus Threat Monitoring Team manages the operations daily, but numerous employees across Poland are committed to ensuring safety.
All Poczta Polska sorting facilities are being successively disinfected, even though it is not required for this type of operation. These measures are preventative and above-standard. At dispatch and distribution centers, the following are primarily disinfected: cloakrooms, sanitary facilities with showers, smoking rooms, break rooms, technical rooms, and cleaning rooms. Sorting centers are facilities where up to several hundred people work simultaneously, from where mail trucks and couriers deliver parcels to recipients depart. Therefore, it is crucial to maintain safety standards and minimize the risk of COVID-19 infection.
For postal workers, over 600,000 30ml and 100ml hand sanitizer gels and over 100,000 liters of large-sized hand and surface disinfectants have already been purchased. Poczta Polska has also purchased over 5.4 million pairs of disposable gloves, over 700,000 reusable, washable masks, and half a million disposable face masks. All postal workers and postal workers have received face shields, with over 62,000 purchased. Deliveries are ongoing so that workers can replace used reusable masks, and a constant supply of disinfectants is also crucial.
Temperature checks for employees in sorting plants, post offices, and offices have also been adopted as a routine measure. Nearly 4,600 plexiglass shields have been installed at post offices to separate employees from customers. Poczta Polska has allocated a total of PLN 57 million for protective measures to date.
