Poczta Polska cares about the environment: sale and recycling of batteries
February 18th is Battery Day. At Poczta Polska, you can purchase batteries in-store and online, and recycle them. Both services are very popular with customers. To celebrate this special holiday, customers of the online postal store can purchase batteries at a discount.
Batteries are available at all Poczta Polska (Polish Post) branches and are becoming increasingly popular. Visitors to postal sales points can purchase, among other items, high-performance batteries of various capacities. Analyses show that the most popular batteries are the thin AAA/R03 and the thicker AA/R6, as well as the 2032 coin/button cell batteries. These are most often located near the counter, making them easy to spot among other commercial goods.
The online store offers not only the most popular types of alkaline and lithium batteries, but also rechargeable batteries, premium batteries, and specialized batteries for hearing aids, remote controls, wireless doorbells, security systems (alarms, locators), and other devices. In celebration of Battery Day, you can purchase batteries sklep.poczta-polska.pl with 30% off .
Polish Post, in accordance with legal regulations, not only sells batteries but also collects and recycles used batteries. Thousands of kilograms of batteries used in household appliances are disposed of in the collection bins located at Polish Post offices every year.
Battery recycling – a guide
• Statistically, each Pole uses about 10-12 batteries per year. This data includes both disposable batteries and rechargeable batteries used in various household appliances.
• Because batteries contain toxic substances, they cannot be disposed of in mixed waste containers. The lead, cadmium, mercury, nickel, and lithium they contain can contaminate soil and water and, together with contaminated water or food, cause serious illnesses.
• Used batteries should be stored in a dry, cool place, away from children and animals.
• Disposable batteries (AA, AAA, button cells) should be disposed of in specially marked containers, located at post offices, stores and supermarkets, electronics retailers, Municipal Waste Collection Points (PSZOK), and sometimes schools and offices.
• Both intact and leaking batteries can be disposed of in these containers. To avoid contact with toxic fluid, it's best to remove batteries from devices using disposable gloves, a paper towel or toothpick, and dispose of them in containers, preferably sealed in a plastic bag.
• Recycling batteries allows for the recovery of 95% of the raw materials (including lithium, cobalt, nickel) used in their production.
• Another way to support environmentally friendly battery use is to use rechargeable batteries, thereby reducing waste.
Since last year, selected post offices have also offered recycling bins for small, used household appliances. This service is a pilot project and is available at over 350 locations in the Masovian, Silesian, and Łódź Voivodeships.
