The Polish Post Office and the BOŚ Foundation are organizing an art competition
The third edition of the "World Through the Eyes of Young People" art competition, organized by the Bank Ochrony Środowiska Foundation and Poczta Polska, has launched. The title of the third edition is "Let's Bring Back Traditional Orchards." The winning entries will be featured on postage stamps.
Schools and community centers can submit entries for the competition until March 19, 2019. Artworks must be submitted by May 14, 2019. Three of them will receive awards, and 10 will receive honorable mentions. The total value of the prizes is PLN 10,000. This fall, the works of the three winners will be published on postage stamps in the "World Through the Eyes of Young People" series. One hundred thousand pieces of philatelic items featuring these works will be sold at post offices and in the Poczta Polska online philatelic store. The stamps will feature the names of the artists and their schools or community centers.
The "World Through the Eyes of Young People" series is not only a philatelic issue, but also an educational project aimed at young people. The competition is held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of National Education, the Minister of Infrastructure, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the University Centre for Research on the Natural Environment and Sustainable Development.
Competition entry
The competition is open to schools and community centers represented by a designated coordinator. Registration is open at www.oczamimlodych.pl and closes on March 19, 2019.
The coordinator's responsibilities include organizing the competition on-site and familiarizing students with the history and role of the postage stamp, as well as topics related to traditional orchards and biodiversity enhancement. During the in-school phase, a maximum of three best entries must be selected from the student submissions, and scans of these entries must be submitted to the BOŚ Foundation via the competition platform no later than May 14, 2019.
The competition website offers a wealth of materials to help organize the competition and conduct educational activities. Among other things, you'll find lesson plans and a compendium of knowledge in the form of articles, tips, and links to interesting websites.
