Poczta Polska and WCBKT SA launched new technological lines at Okęcie

pp_1In July of this year, the process of launching two Cargo technological lines at Poczta Polska facilities at Okęcie Airport was completed in cooperation with the Military Central Design and Technology Office SA. The volume of postal cargo passing through the Warsaw airport amounts to 15,000 tons per year.

The technological lines were designed jointly by Poczta Polska and WCBKT SA. WCBKT SA was responsible for delivery and assembly. The Cargo technological line consists of a system of fixed and mobile racks and is used for handling, forming, and stripping pallets and air containers during the loading and unloading of shipments. The line's structure includes a set of roller and wheeled racks for air pallets, a specialized three-forklift for their transport, and trailers for transporting air pallets on the airport apron. Using these lines will improve the quality and safety of air cargo distribution processes.

The Polish Post's Air Cargo Exchange Department handles the forwarding and receipt of airmail cargo and also mediates international mail transit under contract with one of the air carriers. Airmail is transported in specialized containers, on air cargo pallets, and loosely on trailers. Polish Post employees conduct security checks on the shipments and then transport the trailers or carts with the containers and pallets across the airport apron to the aircraft.

Some cargo delivered from foreign airports is also delivered by road to the Warsaw sorting facility. Lines designed by WCBKT SA have also been installed at this location, where they will be used to efficiently process international cargo.

WCBKT SA has been developing, manufacturing, and supplying aircraft ground support equipment for many years. Recently, the company has also specialized in developing and supplying comprehensive hangar and airport equipment for both the military and civilian markets, both domestically and internationally.

Due to the expansion of Okęcie Airport, all operations carried out by Poczta Polska have been moved to a newly renovated hall at LS Cargo Park right next to the airport, with an area of over 1,500 m² . The volume of postal cargo passing through this facility is 15,000 tons per year.
