Poczta Polska is once again a winner in the Icebreakers Competition
Poczta Polska once again made it to the podium of the prestigious nationwide Lodołamacze (Icebreakers) competition. For its efforts to support the professional development of people with disabilities, the company won second place in the Open Labor Market category.
Poczta Polska has already won first place at the regional level in the "Open Labor Market" category, covering the Łódź, Masovian, Greater Poland, and West Pomeranian Voivodeships. As the largest employer in the country, the company demonstrates social responsibility by employing individuals at risk of exclusion from the labor market. Poczta Polska offers thousands of jobs, including in small towns, where employment is less readily available than in large cities. Over the past year, the postal operator has increased its employment by nearly 240 people with disabilities. Today, Poczta Polska employs over 1,900 people in total.
" Poczta Polska is one of the best employers in the country. Winning the national Icebreakers competition is confirmation of this fact and a great honor . Once again, independent bodies have awarded us this award, proving that we are on the right path by engaging in activities aimed at the professional, social, and sporting activation of people with disabilities. This success would not have been possible without the open attitude of the management team and the commitment and empathy of employees towards their disabled colleagues. Building a culture of openness to employing people with disabilities is also crucial, and a team of local coordinators successfully says Marek Makuch, Managing Director of the Human Capital Division at Poczta Polska.
In 2018, Poczta Polska implemented a Policy for the Employment of Persons with Disabilities, sending a clear signal to the organization that employing people with disabilities is an important element of the company's HR policy. Another significant step in building a culture of openness to employing people with disabilities was Poczta Polska's participation in the "Work – Integration" Pilot Program. The program, offered to employers by the State Fund for the Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons, aims to professionally activate people with disabilities. In 2018–2019, the company employed 405 people under this program, in cooperation with the Activation Foundation. The program continues in 2020. Within nine months, 130 additional beneficiaries of the Foundation found employment at Poczta Polska. To ensure the program's effective implementation, local coordinators were appointed within HR structures in all regions of the country.
The company conducted a broad campaign through internal communication channels to promote the importance of employing people with disabilities, targeting employees. This included articles and interviews with employees with disabilities who pursue their careers at Poczta Polska.
In 2019, Poczta Polska became a partner of the Polish Amp Futbol national team. The partnership continues, and postal workers are cheering on the Polish national team as they prepare for next year's European Championship. The company continually adapts its infrastructure to the needs of people with disabilities and also offers solutions that facilitate the use of postal services for people with mobility impairments, including free in-home service.
The company is a winner of the "Trustworthy Employer" competition in the "Disability-Friendly Company" category. It also received the "Accessibility Leader" title in the "Network of Branches" category of a national architectural and urban planning competition.
The competition has been organized by the FAZON Foundation for Vocational Activation of Disabled People for 15 years. Its format includes two stages: a regional stage (four regions, each comprising four voivodeships), which were decided in August, and a central stage.
