Poczta Polska combines culture and assistance for people in the homeless crisis

On Tuesday, April 15th, another author meeting will be held at the post office, to which we cordially invite you. This time, Teresa Godlewska, author of "66 Reasons to Happiness," will be meeting with readers, in which she shares the story of her extraordinary life. A representative of the Daj Herbatę Foundation, which supports people experiencing homelessness, will also be participating. Teresa Godlewska also experienced this crisis for several months.

Teresa Godlewska is a woman with an extraordinary life story. She was a model and dancer, a millionaire and a bankrupt, a world traveler who visited 66 countries. She worked in Jordan. In Addis Ababa, she cared for the poodles of Emperor Haile Selassie's nephew and also ran an art gallery in the United Arab Emirates. After returning to Poland, she ended up in a Warsaw homeless shelter. Her life motto is: "I will always recover and move on."

On April 15 at 5 p.m. at the post office in Warsaw (UP Warszawa 1, ul. Świętokrzyska 31/33), Mrs. Teresa will answer questions from Michał Zarzycki from Harde publishing house.

Patrycja Drożyńska from the Daj Herbatę Foundation, volunteer coordinator and fundraiser, will also participate in the meeting. She will discuss the non-governmental organization, which has been operating for over 10 years and supports people experiencing homelessness, and how to wisely and effectively help those experiencing homelessness, including through the Daj Herbatę Foundation.

Cooperation between the Post Office and the Daj Herbatę Foundation

The day before, on April 14th, National Homeless Day, Poczta Polska will help support those currently homeless. During the weekly distribution of hot meals and provisions for those experiencing homelessness—organized for years on Mondays in front of the Central Station by the Daj Herbatę Foundation—the company will prepare small gifts for those in need. The postal point will offer items such as postcards with stamps that homeless people can send to their loved ones, including those they haven't contacted for many years. Books and crossword puzzles, which, as the Daj Herbatę Foundation's experience shows, are popular among its beneficiaries, as well as sweets. The campaign is supported by suppliers collaborating with Poczta Polska: Garmond Press and the "Pszczółka" Candy Factory. The point will be staffed by postal volunteers.

On the same day – April 14th – Poczta Polska and Ms. Godlewska will be attending a weekly meeting for women experiencing homelessness, also hosted by the Daj Herbatów Foundation. This time, the women will have the opportunity to do their laundry and also share a meal with Ms. Teresa, who has successfully overcome her homelessness. Poczta Polska has prepared a book by Teresa Godlewska and gadgets for each woman.

Author meetings at Post offices

Author meetings at Polish Post offices are a project implemented by Poczta Polska since 2024. So far, readers have met with Krystyna Mirek, Agnieszka Lis, Justyna Jelińska, Monika Wawrzyńska, and Katarzyna Majgier. Sławomir Koper—history author, journalist, radio and television scriptwriter, and historical expert—will soon be appearing at several of the offices. During the meetings, you can listen to interviews with the authors, ask questions, and purchase their books at discounted prices and get them autographed.

Books are permanently available in Poczta Polska's diverse retail offerings. They sell titles for lovers of various literary genres, including social studies novels, crime novels, and non-fiction. Post offices also offer a wide selection of guides on health, psychology, and hobbies. New releases and books at promotional prices appear on the shelves each month.
