The Polish Post does not forget about the Heroes

Poczta Polska is a company that has been inextricably linked to the fate of our homeland for nearly five centuries. Postal workers have witnessed and actively participated in many important events, repeatedly setting an example of courage, sacrifice, and patriotic values. Currently, through its philatelic issues and occasional publications, Poczta Polska commemorates national heroes and significant episodes in our history. The company also remembers the surviving participants and witnesses of important events, supporting them in numerous ways.

Poczta Polska is one of the longest-established companies in the Polish market. The centuries-long history of the national postal operator is a lens through which Polish history is reflected. Postal workers have repeatedly championed national values and actively participated in struggles for freedom and independence. Commemorating history and our heroes—both widely known and those whose contributions are not mentioned in most textbooks—is a crucial element of the Poczta Polska's mission.

" The Polish Post is a truly exceptional company. After 123 years of partition, postal workers contributed to the construction of a unified state. The post office appeared in every corner of the reborn homeland. Postal workers also shed blood during the unequal struggle against the aggressor and the independence uprisings ," notes Krzysztof Falkowski, president of Poczta Polska.

The Warsaw Uprising holds a special place among the historical events commemorated by Poczta Polska. This extraordinary struggle for freedom by the capital's residents demonstrated extraordinary courage and commitment among the vast masses of the occupied city, and many postal workers also participated. The company commemorated their participation in the Warsaw Uprising by publishing two historical albums, "Zapomniana Historia Powstańczej Warszawy" (Forgotten History of Warsaw Uprising), presenting the profiles and stories of unsung heroes who remain largely unmentioned in scholarly publications. These publications were created based on archival materials from Poczta Polska and in collaboration with the Institute of National Remembrance.

It's not just through publications that the national postal operator promotes patriotic values and honors those who have demonstrated the noblest virtues. This year, Poczta Polska became the exclusive partner of the annual Christmas Eve celebration for Warsaw Uprising participants and their descendants, organized at the Warsaw Uprising Museum.

" It is our duty not only to remember history and its heroes, but also to care for the living witnesses and participants of events important to Poland. The knowledge and contributions of veterans, as well as the legacy they contributed to our history, deserve the highest recognition and appreciation, " emphasizes Krzysztof Falkowski.

In November of this year, the Polish Post Office was honored with the golden BohaterON award named after the Warsaw Uprising Insurgents in the Company category. This unique trophy recognizes individuals and institutions whose activities specifically promote knowledge of 20th-century Polish history and historical and patriotic education. The BohaterON award also recognizes the implementation of the values that guided the Warsaw Uprising Insurgents.

Many important figures and historical events are commemorated in miniature works of art issued by the Polish Post. Stamps and postcards, available at the Company's branches and philatelic shop, are not only a token of payment for postal services. They are also a unique vehicle for our values, the promotion of role models, and a tribute to our Heroes.

Post offices also sell historical publications—books and newspapers—as well as various products from Polish manufacturers. Poczta Polska promotes economic patriotism and supports Polish entrepreneurs through its wide range of domestic products.
