Polish Post warns against a new text message attack

Cybercriminals are once again impersonating the Polish Post Office, posing as the entity responsible for debt collection activities related to consumer electronics records. The text message content indicates an attempt to extort subscription fees.

The attack involves sending messages containing information about the initiation of enforcement proceedings on October 23, 2019, and the conduct of proceedings by court bailiff Ryszard Jaworski, file reference number 8701/19, concerning an RTV subscription fee of PLN 9.22. The customer is then asked to make a payment via the "Oplac tu" link included in the text message, which redirects to the website: oplata24.eeu/1.

The messages were sent to both registered and unregistered subscribers. Please note that Poczta Polska is not the initiator of this text message campaign.

In addition, subscribers registered in the RTV registry are notified by letter about debt collection activities. Please be vigilant and read received messages carefully, and do not open any links contained therein.

If you receive suspicious messages or suspect any irregularities or discrepancies, please report the matter to the police and immediately inform us at cyberbezpieczenstwo[at]poczta-polska.pl . This will allow us to warn other customers.

At the same time, we would like to inform you that Poczta Polska is not responsible for the consequences of actions taken by Customers in messages disseminated by other entities, including entities impersonating Poczta Polska.
