Polish Post warns against fraudsters taking advantage of the epidemic
Please note that Poczta Polska does not send text messages regarding shipping surcharges and does not hold shipments for disinfection. Please be vigilant and read any messages and any links contained within carefully.
Criminals continue to attempt to extort money. The latest attack is related to the current epidemiological situation. Cybercriminals, impersonating the Polish Post, are sending text messages claiming that a shipment has been held for disinfection, in order to gain financial benefits. The message contains a link that redirects to a fake tracking website, along with information about the shipment being held.
For the shipment to reach the recipient, a disinfection fee must be paid. After clicking the PAY button, the system redirects the customer to a fake payment intermediary website. After selecting the bank, the customer is then redirected to a fake bank website. The customer believes they are logging into their bank's website, but this website is also fake (the link in the address is different from the bank's address). The customer specifies the person to whom the amount should be transferred and approves the transfer with a code received via text message (the code is visible to the thief because the website is fake and every transaction performed on the website is monitored in real time). The amount the customer was supposed to pay in the received text message is not equivalent to the amount shown in the text message (PLN 1.00); it may even be several hundred times higher.
We would like to remind you that the correct website address of Poczta Polska is https://www.poczta-polska.pl and the address for tracking parcels is: https://emonitoring.poczta-polska.pl/ .
If you receive suspicious messages or suspect any irregularities or discrepancies, please report the matter to the police and immediately inform us at cyberbezpieczenstwo[at]poczta-polska.pl . This will allow us to warn other online users.
At the same time, we would like to inform you that Poczta Polska is not responsible for the consequences of actions taken by customers in messages disseminated by other entities, including entities impersonating Poczta Polska.
