Poczta Polska is the general partner of the Polish Chess Championship
The Polish Post Office is promoting the royal game of chess. The Polish Chess Championship has become the main theme of a postcard and a commemorative date stamp. The postal operator also announced a competition for the best graphic designs related to chess and the championship, which will then be published in the MójZNACZEK service.
The Polish Chess Championship will be held from April 28 to May 8 of this year in Bydgoszcz, under the honorary patronage of Mateusz Morawiecki, Prime Minister. During the competition, the best chess players will select not only the Polish Chess Champion, but also the national team and representatives of Poland for future international competitions.
Poczta Polska (Polish Post) has become the general partner of the championships. To commemorate the event, the company is issuing special philatelic items: a commemorative card with a date stamp used on the opening day of the championships. The date stamp was designed and co-designed by Waldemar Kawiński, who incorporated the championship graphics by Michał Jakobszy into his design.
" Chess is a royal game with a long tradition, and we are a company that, although younger than this noble game, has been operating for several hundred years, and also has royal roots and a long tradition. As the largest logistics company in the country, we operate in an industry that requires analytical thinking and decision-making skills, which also determines success in chess, " emphasizes Mateusz Wodejko, Vice President of the Management Board of Poczta Polska.
The Polish Post Office supports chess players and will undertake activities to promote this royal game. The company has also been given the opportunity to organize a chess event in which postal employees will participate. The simultaneous game with a grandmaster will take place on May 11th at the company's Warsaw headquarters.
" We were delighted to hear that Poczta Polska, a postal operator with a long tradition and widespread public trust, is supporting Polish chess players. We know that through our mutual cooperation, we will be able to significantly expand the reach of this unique strategic game, a favorite of the world's greatest leaders, " says Radosław Jedynak, President of the Polish Chess Federation.
The championships also became the subject of an organized competition for the design of a personalized postage stamp. This competition will be dedicated not only to the championships but also to chess itself. The overall winner will receive a surprise prize, sponsored by the Polish Chess Federation. The top three entries will be used by Poczta Polska to print sheets in the MójZNACZEK service, as a reward and to honor the competition winners. The authors of the winning graphics will also receive their own stamps free of charge as a thank you for participating in the competition. The list of winners will be announced on May 8, 2021.
Participating in the MójZNACZEK competition gives every Polish Post customer the opportunity to design a postage stamp. Winning entries will become fully-fledged postage stamps, often also used as special gifts for special occasions.
Stamp designs should be submitted as a .jpg graphic file, at least 300 DPI, by 12:00 PM on May 5, 2021, to: konkursy@poczta-polska.pl
