The Polish Post Office planted 462 trees, why so many?
On October 20, 2020, in Solec Kujawski, employees of Poczta Polska planted 462 trees, exactly as many years ago this year the Polish Post Office was founded.
On Tuesday morning, October 20th, employees of Poczta Polska (Polish Post) took on the challenge of planting 462 trees. Thanks to their dedication and effort, the planted trees, once mature, will absorb approximately 3,600 kg of carbon and purify 16 million cubic meters of air annually . If they survive as long as Poczta Polska (Polish Post) currently does, they will purify over 7 billion cubic meters of air.
" Participating in the campaign is another step in our corporate social responsibility initiatives, inextricably linked to the company's business strategy and based on four pillars: employees, customers, society, and the natural environment. In each of these areas, activities are being carried out that demonstrate Poczta Polska's commitment to sustainable development – meeting the needs and obligations to the state, customers, and employees. I believe that in the future, the planted trees will not only serve as natural wonders, but also as a commemorative, green monument to the history of Poczta Polska, " said Tomasz Zdzikot, President of the Management Board of Poczta Polska.
This momentous ceremony was attended by employees of the Bydgoszcz Network Region, Karol Górski, Director of the Bydgoszcz Network Region, employees of the State Forests, and local authorities of the Regional State Forests. During the ceremony, plaques commemorating this initiative and the Post Office's commitment to protecting the regional environment were unveiled.
" This year, due to the pandemic, Poczta Polska was unable to celebrate its anniversary in the traditional way we postal workers have long been familiar with. I was looking for a way to celebrate our next anniversary, and that's how the idea for an outdoor event came about. The 462-tree planting campaign allowed us not only to symbolically celebrate Poczta Polska's anniversary, but also to do something useful and valuable for the local environment. This young generation of the forest is a natural monument that will serve as a testament to Poczta Polska's responsibility and commitment to the local community for generations to come, " said Karol Górski, Regional Director of the Bydgoszcz Network, who initiated the campaign.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, almost all traditional Polish Post Day festivities were canceled this year, so we came up with an entirely different way to commemorate the 462nd anniversary of the founding of the Polish Post. Thanks to the commitment of our employees and the openness of the Regional Management of the State Forests, we managed to organize this event and do something beneficial not only for the local community, Poles, but also for the entire planet.
