The Polish Post Office is preparing for the parcel rush
During the pre-holiday season, postal workers will deliver 50–70% more parcels each week than on average during other weeks of the year. Efficiently serving customers ordering gifts online is a task for which the Polish Post Office needs additional staff. This year, the company plans to hire at least 1,200 additional drivers, sorting plant employees, and couriers.
Poczta Polska expects further record-breaking parcel handling this year during the pre-holiday period. Customer satisfaction is a top priority for postal workers, which is why the company has been preparing for this growth for many months. Last year, the number of parcels handled steadily increased during November and December, and in the record-breaking week in December, Poczta Polska customers shipped over 75% more parcels than the average weekly average during other times of the year. This season could see a similar pattern, and in December, postal workers expect days when the number of parcels handled could exceed one million.
Poczta Polska will employ at least 1,200 additional people to efficiently deliver pre-holiday e-shopping. Those seeking additional income can take seasonal employment with Poczta Polska. The company has been successfully organizing nationwide recruitment campaigns for many years. This year, Poczta Polska is primarily looking for individuals interested in contract work to work in sorting centers, delivering parcels, and drivers with licenses to drive vehicles with a capacity of up to 3.5 tons and over 3.5 tons. Individuals seeking additional income in sorting centers in Warsaw, Krakow, Katowice, Łódź, Wrocław, and Poznań, among others, are particularly sought after. For drivers with free time, additional work can be found primarily in Warsaw, Wrocław, Bydgoszcz, Grudziądz, Olsztyn, Ostróda, Białystok, Łomża, Ełk, Gdańsk, Katowice, and Łódź. In turn, people who will deliver parcels can get a job throughout the country.
" Poczta Polska is striving to improve the processing of purchases made in the final months of the year. We expect to deliver a record number of parcels during this year's pre-holiday peak. This is due to the fact that more and more Poles are shopping online for the holidays. To ensure that all gifts arrive on time, Poczta Polska is taking a number of measures, including seasonal recruitment of people who will help us process parcels, symbolically supporting Santa Claus and his elves, " says Marek Makuch, Director of the Human Capital Division at Poczta Polska SA.
Those working in sorting centers will receive salaries ranging from PLN 17 gross to PLN 25 gross per hour. Parcel delivery workers will receive a rate of PLN 21 gross per hour or PLN 2 gross to PLN 5 gross per parcel delivered. Rates for drivers of vehicles up to 3.5 tons range from PLN 18 gross to PLN 22 gross per hour, and for drivers of vehicles over 3.5 tons: PLN 19 gross to PLN 28 gross per hour. Salary levels depend on the location and scope of duties performed. Those working as security guards will receive the salary applicable to that position under an employment contract.
