Poczta Polska reminds about the obligation to complete customs declarations when sending parcels with goods to non-EU countries
This is a necessary step that ensures proper handling of the shipment and its timely delivery to the recipient.
Who do the regulations apply to?
Current Universal Postal Union and customs and tax regulations apply to shipments containing goods originating from non-EU countries that will be delivered to recipients – both online orders and gifts. Unfortunately, sellers don't always inform customers about possible additional costs associated with delivering ordered goods (such as VAT and customs duties).
The customer is responsible for completing the customs declaration. This means that Poczta Polska employees are obligated to refuse to accept a shipment without the appropriate documentation. Failure to complete a customs declaration results in the shipment being detained at the border and potentially delayed delivery. Furthermore, foreign post offices may refuse to accept the shipment, which may result in additional logistical complications and costs for the sender.
A correctly completed declaration shortens the delivery time
A correctly completed customs declaration, accurate and accurate, allows for more efficient processing (this also applies to indicating the actual value of the contents). Unfortunately, many online sellers try to reduce the value of the shipment, thinking they will save the customer money. Instead of helping the recipient, this tactic can significantly increase delivery times.
A sender who describes the contents of a shipment in a manner inconsistent with the facts also exposes the recipient to a delay in delivery and the need to provide explanations to customs and tax services.
Instead of helping the recipient, such tactics may expose him to a significant extension of the delivery time.
A correctly completed customs declaration, consistent with the actual state of affairs, enables more efficient handling (this also applies to indicating the real value of the contents).
