Poczta Polska begins processing applications for co-financing the purchase of a digital receiver
As of today, March 21st, Poczta Polska has begun comprehensively processing applications for funding for the purchase of a digital receiver capable of receiving digital terrestrial television in the new DVB-T2 frequency standard. Applications for the PLN 100 benefit will be accepted for nine months, until December 31st.
In just one week, on March 28th, a change to the digital terrestrial television broadcasting standard will begin. This change is necessary to adapt the frequency currently used by terrestrial television to accommodate the global growth of the internet in European Union member states. The DVB-T2/HEVC standard will enable free reception of more television programs in higher quality. For those who own a television set without the option to receive open terrestrial television in the DVB-T2/HEVC standard, it will be necessary to replace it or purchase a decoder to maintain uninterrupted reception. Replacement is not necessary for subscribers using paid cable, satellite, or IPTV platforms.
The Act on Supporting Households in Covering the Costs Associated with the Change of the Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting Standard of February 24, 2022, provides for the possibility of applying for subsidy for the purchase of a television or decoder, which will enable the reception of digital television broadcast in the new frequency standard. A one-time subsidy of PLN 100 is available to households whose financial situation prevents them from independently covering the cost of purchasing a new digital receiver. The subsidy is only available to one adult per household.
Applications for funding can be submitted from March 21, 2022, until the end of this year, including at post offices and their branches nationwide. Applications can also be submitted via an electronic form available on the gov.pl platform. Pursuant to the aforementioned Act, proxies may also submit applications on behalf of eligible individuals.
Submitting an application to Poczta Polska is simple. Below, we've outlined the entire process step by step:
- the authorized person/or proxy is obliged to confirm his/her identity by presenting to the Post Office employee a document containing at least: name, surname, PESEL number and photo;
- The Polish Post employee accepting the application based on the presented identity document enters the applicant's data into the electronic form. Note: When submitting the application, the applicant is required to provide a mobile phone number to which an authorization code required for collecting the digital receiver will be sent;
- the completed and printed application is handed over to the applicant for his/her own signature;
- after signing the application, a benefit code is generated – subsidy for the purchase of a TV or decoder, which is given to the applicant in the form of a printout;
- People who provide an email address when registering their application will also receive a benefit code at the email address provided.
The basis for receiving the subsidy is a benefit code. The beneficiary must present it to the store. The benefit code for the purchase of a digital receiver expires on December 31, 2022. A list of stores where you can purchase a digital receiver with subsidy is available here .
Poczta Polska, as the national operator, is once again actively participating in communication between the State and its citizens. Recently, the company has supported the processing of applications for the "500+" benefit and the "Family Care Capital" program, supported the National Population and Housing Census, and, at the request of the Ministry of Health, delivered pulse oximeters to patients.
