Poczta Polska expands cooperation with the Special Educational Centre in Skawina
Poczta Polska has been supporting people with disabilities for years. This is reflected, among other things, in the company's employment policy. Poczta Polska also organizes assisted internships, which help young people with disabilities enter the job market and gain independence. Now, the "Pocztowy Dar" Foundation joins the group of entities collaborating with the Skawina Center.
The Special Educational Center in Skawina, named after Poczta Polska, is intended for students with mild, moderate, and severe intellectual disabilities, multiple disabilities, and children and youth with special education needs due to autism or Asperger's syndrome. The company has been collaborating with the center for almost 30 years.
Under the agreement, the Center promotes its patron and the history of its activities, which are inextricably linked to the history of Poland. Students preparing for work can also complete assisted internships at the Skawina post office. At specially adapted stations, they are responsible for tasks such as sorting and organizing letters and parcels, and observing customer service at the counter. The internships provide them with an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the job market and acquire specific skills that will help them achieve independence.
" Poczta Polska is a company committed to combating exclusion. We help adults and young people who may be struggling in the job market. In the case of the Center in Skawina, it enables its clients to gain experience in the open labor market, not just in the sheltered employment market. And not just here, either. We also provide jobs to nearly 1,700 people with disabilities across Poland. We sensitize employees to the many benefits of working in a diverse environment, comprised of people with different needs and abilities, " says Andrzej Bodziony, Vice President of the Management Board of Poczta Polska.
In October of this year, the Center will also begin collaborating with the Polish Post Foundation – "Pocztowy Dar" (Postal Gift). The first joint project of the new partners is the organization of an event entitled "Friendship with a Trumpet in the Coat of Arms," which is connected to the upcoming holidays – Polish Post Day and National Education Day. Participants will have the opportunity to visit a historical stand dedicated to the company's patron and the Foundation's stand, as well as participate in an art competition and a series of engaging activities.
" The Pocztowy Dar Foundation initiates and supports initiatives and entities that help those in need. We begin our collaboration with the Center in Skawina by examining the needs of the residents. We are committed to jointly implementing activities that will bring real benefits and meet the expectations of the Center's guests to the greatest extent possible. The potential for collaboration is enormous. The Foundation has extensive experience in providing assistance, and the Center is open and ready to implement joint initiatives," says Marek Makuch, President of the Pocztowy Dar Foundation and Director of the Human Resources and Training Center at Poczta Polska.
Currently, approximately 1,700 people with disabilities work at Poczta Polska, representing 2.68% of all employees. For years, the company has had a "Disability Employment Policy ," which sets goals and directions for action and serves as a declaration of equal employment opportunities for people at risk of exclusion from the labor market.
For its efforts to promote the professional development of people with disabilities, Poczta Polska won second place in the Open Labor Market category of the 2020 central-level Icebreakers competition. As the largest employer in the country, the company demonstrates social responsibility by employing people at risk of exclusion from the labor market. Poczta Polska also won the 2020 regional anniversary Icebreakers competition, covering the Łódź, Masovian, Greater Poland, and West Pomeranian Voivodeships. In the 2019 Trustworthy Employer competition, Poczta Polska won in the Disability-Friendly Company category.
