Poczta Polska celebrates the start of the 2026 Winter Games with a new Olympic stamp
Poczta Polska is introducing a postage stamp from the "Polish Olympic Team at the XXV Winter Olympic Games Milan–Cortina 2026" issue. The stamp will be delivered to post offices on February 6, 2026, on the day of the opening ceremony of this year's Winter Olympic Games.
The design for the issue was prepared by Poczta Polska (Polish Post) in cooperation with the Polish Olympic Committee. It is based on photographs by Szymon Sikora (POC), taken during a special photo session with athletes selected for the Polish Olympic Team. This allows the banknote to depict actual athletes who will compete in the Olympic events.
The stamp depicts three winter disciplines: speed skating, alpine skiing, and biathlon. The stars of the issue are Kaja Ziomek-Nogal, Maryna Gąsienica-Daniel, and Konrad Badacz. The athletes are presented in dynamic shots that capture the pace and character of winter competitions, emphasizing their signature speed, precision, and technique. The graphic composition is complemented by the Team PL logo—the official symbol of the Polish Olympic Team. The overall design features a modern style, utilizing clear forms, striking color contrasts, and expressive movement.
The issue is accompanied by a First Day of Circulation (FDC) envelope, in the style of the stamp. It depicts an athlete in motion against a minimalist, subdued graphic backdrop. On the day of the issue, a commemorative date stamp with a snowflake motif will be used, reflecting the winter theme of the Games.
The whole creates a coherent philatelic setting documenting the participation of Polish athletes in the XXV Winter Olympic Games Milan–Cortina 2026 and referring to the long-standing tradition of Poczta Polska in commemorating Olympic events.
