The Polish Post is preparing for the elections. The countdown is on – 3 days left!
- By June 23, nearly 159,000 election packages had been delivered.
- While maintaining all sanitary requirements, Poczta Polska employees will deliver election packages to people in quarantine until June 26.
- By June 26, packages are also being distributed to voters who have declared their intention to vote by post in the Baranów and Marklowice communes, where only postal voting has been ordered.
From the beginning of the mailing period until Tuesday, Poczta Polska (Polish Post) processed nearly 159,000 mailings. From Wednesday to Friday, Poczta Polska will deliver mailings to individuals in quarantine and to voters who have registered to vote by mail in the Baranów and Marklowice municipalities.
Election packages are being delivered by two-person teams. Employees are equipped with standard personal protective equipment (PPE)—disposable gloves, masks, and disinfectants—to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Voter packages are delivered to those in quarantine under special rules. Instead of being delivered to a mailbox, the package will be delivered directly to the voter's door. Postmen will first knock on the door, then move to a safe distance and wait no longer than three minutes for the package to be collected. For those in quarantine, it is possible to return the package to the postman after casting their ballot. If a voter wishes to do so, they must notify the postman, who will place a mobile mailbox in front of the door and wait no longer than 10 minutes to deposit the return envelope.
This rule also applied to the delivery of election packages to people with disabilities. However, in the case of delivery to the so-called "door to door" address, this action depended on the instructions of the sender – the Municipal Office, which indicated this obligation by placing an appropriate note on the envelope containing the election package. In this case, Poczta Polska did not decide which packages should be delivered to the mailbox and which to the addressee; it merely implemented the Municipal Office's instructions.
Election packages are marked with a special "Election Delivery" imprint. Inside, you'll find a ballot paper, a declaration of in-person and secret voting on the ballot paper, a return envelope marked "Ballot Envelope," a return envelope marked "Election Delivery," and voting instructions. After casting your vote, place your ballot paper in the return envelope marked "Ballot Envelope" and seal it. The sealed ballot envelope and the completed Declaration of Intent should be placed in the return envelope marked "Election Delivery." Detailed instructions can be found in the dedicated tab dedicated to postal voting.
The Polish Post Office places great importance on ensuring the security of the entire postal voting process. All election packages, as well as return envelopes, will be stored securely, including in strongboxes, secured cabinets, or separate, secure rooms.
