The Polish Post has celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Legislative Sejm
Poczta Polska solemnly inaugurated the broadcast of the new stamp with a presentation, which took place on February 21 this year. in the Sejm building. The presentation was organized by the Chancellery of the Sejm in cooperation with Poczta Polska. The value of PLN 5 was in circulation on February 8 this year. on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the commencement of the Legislative Sejm.
The new occasional stamp presents the image of Wojciech Trąmpczyński, the Marshal of the Legislative Sejm and the lawyer and activist of national democracy. Józef Piłsudski opened the inaugural meetings of the unicameral parliament on February 10, 1919. Speaking of newly elected MPs, he emphasized that the establishment of the Sejm is a great joyful feast of the nation after a long serious night of suffering. The last meeting took place on November 27, 1922.
The tasks of the Legislative Sejm included, among others adopting a new constitution. MPs did this in just two years in the conditions of constantly fights for the borders of the state and with huge internal problems. The new Basic Law was adopted on March 17, 1921. The term of office of the Legislative Sejm ended in November 1922 with parliamentary elections.
Poczta Polska commemorated last year, among others 100th anniversary of Poland regaining independence. Occasional stamps included images of Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Józef Piłsudski, Roman Dmowski, Wincent Witos, Ignacy Daszyński, and Wojciech Korfanty.
