The Polish Post Office commemorated the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Polish Underground State

PrintingOn September 27, Poczta Polska introduced a stamp depicting the symbol of Fighting Poland – the famous anchor with an element of the national flag. This issue commemorates the history of the creation and operation of the Polish Underground State during World War II.

The stamp's designer, Jerzy Pietras, depicted an anchor painted on a wall, symbolizing the hope of regaining independence during World War II. Next to it, he placed the colors of the Polish flag, and in the background of the stamp, the proclamation of the establishment of the General Government. The commemorative stamp, with a face value of 3.30 złoty, was printed in a circulation of 150,000.

The Polish Underground State was a clandestine structure of the Polish state that existed during World War II in territories occupied by the Third Reich and the USSR, subordinate to the Polish Government-in-Exile. It consisted of a Military Division and a Civil Division. The Civil Division was managed by the Government Delegation for Poland, established in 1940. On July 26, 1944, the National Council of Ministers (KRM) was established based on the Government Delegation for Poland.

The nucleus of the Military Division was the Service for Poland's Victory, established on the night of 26-27 September 1939, while Warsaw was still under siege. On 13 November 1939, it was transformed into the Union of Armed Struggle, which was renamed the Home Army on 14 February 1942.
