Poczta Polska provides logistical support to government institutions fighting the coronavirus.
In addition to providing postal services, Poczta Polska is undertaking a number of initiatives to support institutions fighting the epidemic. As part of its "Special Campaigns," the company is delivering disinfectant to hospitals, clinics, police, and border guards. It has also established warehousing facilities for the Ministry of Health.
The first shipments of disinfectant fluids arrived at the sorting center in Łódź on March 10th. In the following days, they were delivered via Courier 48 to healthcare facilities, sanitary-epidemiological stations, and the National Health Fund, and then to hospitals (including infectious diseases hospitals), the police, and the Border Guard. In total, postal workers delivered approximately 22,000 five-liter containers in the first few days of March.
On March 18, the fluids began arriving at pharmacies (approximately 13,000 5-liter containers). In the following days, they were distributed to 200 youth and special education centers. Distribution of antibacterial agents to Regional Blood Donation and Treatment Centers began on Friday, March 27.
As part of its cooperation with the Ministry of Health, Poczta Polska (Polish Post) established a Personal Protective Equipment Reserve Warehouse. The warehouse, covering several thousand square meters, is located at the sorting facility in Łódź. It received not only disinfectants but also aprons (transported from Sweden on behalf of the Industrial Development Agency). Postal workers distributed goggles from the warehouse in Lublin.
On March 26th of this year, the Industrial Development Agency (ARP) and KGHM organized an airlift of personal protective equipment from China for the Ministry of Health. Poczta Polska (Polish Post) handled all logistics from the airport to Łódź. The three trucks transporting the shipment from Warsaw to Łódź primarily contained masks and disposable gloves. Distribution may be conducted as part of special operations by the Ministry of Health or through the military.
Poczta Polska has already started preparations to create a second Personal Protective Equipment Reserve Warehouse in Grodzisk Mazowiecki.
