Poczta Polska supports the nationwide #ZnamTeNumery campaign

Poczta Polska is supporting the nationwide #ZnamTeNumery campaign, aimed at protecting seniors from fraud. In 2022, over 3,500 people over 65 fell victim to fraudsters, losing over PLN 141 million. The campaign, initiated by Telewizja Puls, the National Police Headquarters, and the TV Puls "Pod Dębem" Foundation and actively promoted by Poczta Polska, educates older people and their loved ones and emphasizes the importance of senior safety in society. The activities also include practical tips on how to protect yourself from fraud. Poczta Polska is involved in the initiative, strengthening its role as a national postal operator responsible for the public good.

In 2022, over 3,500 people over 65 were harmed by fraudsters operating using the "grandson" or "official" scams. Their financial losses exceed PLN 141 million. Therefore, Telewizja Puls, the National Police Headquarters, and the TV Puls "Pod Dębem" Foundation organized the nationwide #ZnamTeNumery campaign. The Polish Post Office is also actively supporting the campaign.

The safety of seniors is a particularly important area of social security. The #ZnamTeNumery campaign aims to educate older adults and their loved ones and draw attention to the dangers they face.

As part of the campaign, a special list of simple rules has been created that can help protect seniors and their loved ones from fraud:

  • Establish a password with your loved ones – a key that will allow you to verify whether the person you are talking to is actually who they say they are.
  • Don't trust – check who you are talking to, for example by dialing the number of the person yourself using the numeric keypad.
  • Do not click on links or respond to unknown text messages, as some of these messages may be an attempt to extort important information or infect your phone or computer with a malicious virus.
  • Do not provide any numbers, logins or passwords, because no official or government employee has the right to ask you for them.
  • A new acquaintance? – great, but be careful if, after some time, he asks you, for example, to borrow a large sum of money.
  • Create a Support List – contacts to people you trust and always carry it with you.
  • Do not believe a stranger that your conversation is confidential, any request from a stranger not to inform family or loved ones about your conversation should immediately raise your alarm.
  • Meet your Community Police Officer, who is always ready to help in any suspicious situation.

Poczta Polska has long promoted initiatives to protect the health and property of its customers. Because postal workers are familiar with their customers' habits and behaviors, they can detect the most unusual and disturbing phenomena. Among both postal workers and postmen, there are individuals who have repeatedly demonstrated concern for their customers by providing assistance. For example, two assistants from the Żary branch of the post office immediately provided aid to a man who had collapsed on the spot. However, Poczta Polska employees also protect customers from losing their savings. An employee from the Susz Post Office demonstrated this approach. During the investigation, police determined that a fraud allegedly committed by one of Poczta Polska's customers was uncovered thanks to the postal worker's vigilance.
