The Polish Post Office has chosen electric cars

nissan_e_nv200Poczta Polska employees will soon be delivering parcels using Nissan e-NV200 electric delivery vans that will join the postal fleet this fall.

Poczta Polska (Polish Post) has selected a supplier in a tender for the lease of vehicles with a payload capacity of up to 800 kg and a gross vehicle weight of up to 3.5 tons. Arval Service Lease Polska Sp. z o. o. will provide postal workers with 20 Nissan e-NV200 vehicles.

The electric Nissan e-NV200s will be delivered to Białystok, Bydgoszcz, Gdańsk, Katowice, Kraków, Lublin, Łódź, Poznań, Szczecin, Warsaw, and Wrocław. The Polish Post Office will benefit from a 36-month lease of these vehicles, including servicing.

The Nissan e-NV200 is equipped with an 80 kW electric motor and a 40 kWh battery, enabling a top speed of 123 km/h and a city driving range of 301 km according to the WLTP cycle. The vehicles can be charged with alternating current (AC charging, also from a 230V socket) or direct current ("fast" DC charging). The vehicle's payload is 742 kg, and the cargo space has a volume of 4.2 m³ . Among other features, the vehicles have a regenerative braking system and parking assistance (reversing camera with integrated driver's side mirror). The cargo space floor will be lined with non-slip carpeting. The vehicles will be white, marked with the Poczta Polska logo, and with a designed marking indicating that the vehicle is electric.

Acquiring electric cars means not only operational savings for Poczta Polska, but above all, the elimination of exhaust emissions and a significant reduction in noise levels, i.e. actions that are friendly to the environment and residents.

Poczta Polska is the largest logistics operator in the country. Poczta Polska employees have at their disposal 6,000 vehicles with a capacity of 0.5–24 tons, 30% of which are less than four years old. Over 30,000 postmen and couriers deliver several million parcels daily.
