The Polish Post Office issued a stamp with the image of Kazimierz Deyna
Kazimierz Deyna's portrait was featured on the Polish Post's circulation stamp edition. The official presentation of the philatelic publication took place on August 21st in Warsaw.
Kazimierz Deyna is a legend of Polish football. He celebrated great successes at the national team level, winning the gold medal and the top scorer title at the 1972 Munich Olympics and finishing third at the FIFA World Cup in West Germany two years later. In 1974, he was voted the third best footballer in Europe in the Golden Ball plebiscite. With Legia Warsaw, he twice won the Polish championship and reached the semifinals of the European Champion Clubs' Cup in 1970. Kazimierz Deyna tragically died in a car accident on September 1, 1989, in the United States. He was 42 years old. In 2012, his ashes were brought back to Poland.
The author of the design, Jarosław Ochendzan, presented a portrait photograph of Kazimierz Deyna on the stamp. Along the left edge there is the inscription: "KAZIMIERZ DEYNA", and in the lower left corner – the value notation: 5.90 PLN and the inscription: POLSKA.
In addition to the commemorative stamp, Poczta Polska has issued a limited edition First Day of Circulation envelope, an envelope issued on the first day of circulation for the stamps. It features a photograph of Kazimierz Deyna from the 1978 World Cup in Argentina.
