The Polish Post issued a stamp to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of PKO Bank Polski.

knowsThe outline of the Warsaw Rotunda appears on a commemorative stamp of the Polish Post commemorating the 100th anniversary of the establishment of PKO Bank Polski.

Karol Tyczyński, the author of the graphic design for this issue, included a sketch of the Warsaw Rotunda, the most distinctive building of PKO Bank Polski and one of the capital's symbols. The stamp also features the bank's logo, created especially for its 100th anniversary.

The 3.20 złoty stamp was issued in a limited edition of 100,000. It entered circulation on February 7th, exactly 100 years after Chief of State Józef Piłsudski, Prime Minister Ignacy Paderewski, and Minister of Post and Telegraphs Hubert Linde signed a decree establishing the Pocztowa Kasa Oszczędności (Post Savings Bank) – the predecessor of PKO Bank Polski. The Bank's mission was not only to provide Poles with banking services, but above all to organize a system for accumulating savings essential for rebuilding the country after years of partition and the devastation of World War I.

PKO Bank Polski and Poczta Polska share a century-long partnership and historical closeness. It was at these post offices that, during the interwar period, Poles could deposit and withdraw funds from PKO savings books and purchase life insurance.

PKO Bank Polski collaborates with Poczta Polska in many areas. Poczta Polska serves the bank, among other things, in the sending of letters and courier parcels, transport, and protection of valuables. On average, it sends approximately 3.5 million letters through Poczta Polska each month. PKO Bank Polski, in turn, manages Poczta Polska's accounts. Together with Poczta Polska, it is a shareholder in Bank Pocztowy. Together with eService, it enables card payments at Poczta Polska's branch network.

"100th Anniversary of PKO Bank Polski" is not the first stamp issued by Poczta Polska featuring PKO Bank Polski as a theme. In 1961, a series was issued under the slogan "October, the Month of Savings."

The stamp features an image of the Rotunda. The building was built in 1966. Located at the intersection of Marszałkowska Street and Jerozolimskie Avenue, the building was designed as a model for a modern bank branch. Its innovative circular design, complete with glass and a distinctive roof, was nicknamed the "General's Cap." For over 50 years of its existence, the Rotunda has become a permanent fixture in the city's life, becoming a symbol of the capital and a favorite meeting place for residents and tourists.
