Poczta Polska (Polish Post) has opened another warehouse. The logistics complex in Ciemne, near Radzymin, has been commissioned.

Poczta Polska has been consistently implementing one of its most important investments in recent years, aimed at optimizing the efficiency of its logistics network. The company is gradually transforming its logistics infrastructure from letter to parcel. The new sorting facility is Poczta Polska's largest and most modern logistics complex.

Poczta Polska (Polish Post) has completed the construction of a new logistics facility located in Ciemne, near Radzymin, near Warsaw. This new facility has added its fifteenth forwarding and distribution hub, handling parcel and pallet shipments from other distribution hubs across the country and from within its own service area, including those shipped by bulk customers. High-bay and commercial warehouses will also be located here. The new facility will also operationally replace the existing location in Grodzisk Mazowiecki, which was dedicated to pallet shipments, but above all, it will be the new, largest hub in Poczta Polska's logistics network for handling CEP parcel shipments.

" The investment in Ciemne near Radzymin is one of the most important projects currently underway at the company. Acquiring a new logistics facility in the immediate vicinity of Warsaw will enable us to handle the growing volume of parcel and pallet shipments and automate logistics processes. In the first half of next year, the facility will be equipped with the company's largest parcel sorter, " says Krzysztof Falkowski, CEO of Poczta Polska.

The entire complex consists of three buildings: a cross-dock hall with an area of over 12,000 m² , a warehouse and operations hall with an area of over 28,000 m² with a 5,000 m² canopy , and a 660 m² control room . In addition to the operational buildings, the facility includes support and technical facilities – the entire complex will be located on an area of over 11 hectares.

The cross-dock hall houses a high-bay warehouse, a retail warehouse, and a dedicated pallet service area. The building is equipped with 36 hydraulic ramps suitable for loading and unloading a full range of vehicles, from 8-pallet vans with a GVM of up to 3.5 tons to 40-tonne rigs. This facility is designed to handle both domestic and international pallet shipments, as well as storage.

Domestic Pallet Delivery is a service provided nationwide. It involves the transport of goods packed and placed on a Euro pallet (or other cargo unit) from the pickup location to the delivery location using multiple modes of transport. It is recommended for the transport of goods, industrial products, including goods covered by the SENT Act and selected ADR classes. The service is aimed at clients operating in the B2B and B2C sectors, including e-commerce companies.

The high-bay warehouse is planned to provide warehousing services as part of the supply chain, targeting a wide range of clients—both manufacturing and retail companies seeking to optimize logistics costs. The offer includes activities related to receiving goods into the warehouse, storing and managing inventory, order picking, securing goods, issuing goods, and periodic inventory counting.

The commercial warehouse – also located in the aforementioned hall – will serve as a distribution center for the commercial activities of post offices in the Masovian Voivodeship. This warehouse will be used for receiving, packaging, and shipping goods directly to all post offices.

The warehouse and operations hall will be used for processing CEP (courier, express, parcel) shipments – a machine sorting process with a dedicated section for sorting bulky shipments. The facility is equipped with 60 courier gates. Furthermore, to expedite the logistics process, a shelter has been built adjacent to the building, which will allow for the simultaneous unloading and loading of approximately 80 courier vehicles.

" We aspire to make Poczta Polska a leader in the courier market. Our goal is to achieve significant revenue growth in this segment, maintain a high standard of service, and ensure employee comfort. That's why we're focusing on modern logistics solutions. The new facilities being commissioned today will house Poczta Polska's largest and most modern logistics center, where, thanks to an investment in a sorting machine, operations will be largely automated ," says Andrzej Bodziony, Vice President of Poczta Polska.

Since July of this year, the hall has been undergoing installation of a sorter for automatic parcel distribution. The entire structure, including work and service platforms, has been completed, and the entire sorter track has been assembled. Installation of six automatic lines feeding parcels into the sorter has begun. The operating capacity of the device will allow for sorting 15,000 parcels per hour. It is scheduled to launch in the second quarter of 2024.

The Warsaw II facility was acquired as a BTS lease. Its main contractor, Panattoni, preceded construction by analyzing the company's needs, both business and environmental. The contractor ensured not only functionality but also environmental sustainability. The warehouse holds a BREEAM Excelent certification, signifying high standards in environmental protection, care for the climate and local communities, and user comfort. Additionally, the facility is equipped with intelligent energy management systems, water conservation, electric vehicle charging stations, green areas near the offices, and bicycle racks.

Poczta Polska is undertaking a number of initiatives aimed at modernizing its current logistics network and introducing machinery. Sorters for automated processing of CEP shipments have already been commissioned at sorting plants in Wrocław, Lublin, and Lisi Ogon near Bydgoszcz. In the coming years, this will enable the company to achieve its strategic goals, including the further development of forward-looking courier and parcel services, e-commerce, and logistics.
