Polish Post with a new parcel sorting facility in Białystok
Poczta Polska will open a new parcel sorting facility in Białystok. Starting in October, thanks to a contract signed with Panattoni, a warehouse operator, Poczta Polska will add a facility to its nationwide network that will support the company's logistics operations in the dynamically growing e-commerce parcel market.
The sorting facility in Białystok is part of Poczta Polska's new logistics architecture, designed to address the rapidly growing e-commerce market. The facility will be adapted to the needs of Poczta Polska and will employ nearly 190 people. The additional sorting facility will be operational in October, just before the Christmas parcel peak.
The new Poczta facility will be located at Panattoni Park Białystok, at 8 Aksamitna Street, in the north-western part of Białystok, approx. 8 km from the city center, adjacent to Route 65 and a short distance from the S8 expressway. Panattoni Park Białystok is the first logistics park in the Podlasie region and the first Panattoni Europe project in the region.
The Białystok Post Office's current mail sorting facilities are located in three different locations. The relocation of letter and parcel sorting and dispatch processes to a new hall with an area of over 5,000 square meters will streamline the work of postal workers. The opening of the new sorting facility will mean, among other things, faster mail processing and increased efficiency. The existing post office facility on Elewatorska Street will be used to handle domestic and international pallet shipments. Moving the letter and parcel sorting processes to the leased hall is the first stage of changes to the postal logistics network in this region. Ultimately, the Podlasie sorting facility will be located on the Poczta Polska plot in Choroszcz, near Białystok.
Last year, the Polish Post Office opened additional sorting halls in four locations: Olsztyn, Koszalin, Łódź, and Zamość. This year, the company also plans to increase the warehouse space used for parcel sorting.
