Polish Post with the title of Guardian of Memory
Poczta Polska (Polish Post) received a special Guardian of Memory award for its efforts to cultivate Polish history and tradition. The company triumphed in the Patron category. This distinction demonstrates that Poczta Polska operates in the public sphere not only as a commercial entity, but also as an institution guided by values and implementing a range of activities with a social mission.
Whoever does not respect and does not value his past is not worthy of respect, the present or the right to a future – the words of Marshal Józef Piłsudski have guided the jury awarding the Guardian of Memory award since the first edition.
This year, the 9th annual awards gala took place on November 16th at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. Each year, the editorial staff of "Do Rzeczy" presents awards in three categories: Creator (recipients include authors of works that contribute to the renewal of historical memory and make a significant contribution to promoting patriotic attitudes), Institution (the award goes to museums, associations, and foundations that, in the past year, undertook initiatives to achieve the competition's goals), and Patron (the award goes to public, commercial, and private entities that provide special financial support for preserving historical memory).
" The Polish Post is an institution deeply rooted in Poland's history and tradition. We strive to use our tools to disseminate historical knowledge, primarily philatelic issues, but we also have extensive archives that we utilize in our ongoing work. This award motivates us to continue our work in the field of historical education, " said Tomasz Zdzikot, President of the Management Board of the Polish Post, during the gala.
In previous editions, the Guardian of Memory Award in the Creator category has been awarded to, among others, the distinguished historian Professor Wojciech Roszkowski, the distinguished poet Jarosław Marek Rymkiewicz, and the creators of the TV series "Czas Honoru." In the Institution category, the winners included the Ordo Iuris Institute for Legal Culture, the Association for Commemorating Poles Murdered in Volhynia, and the Association for the Remembrance of the Victims of the Augustów Roundup. In the Patron category, in previous years, the highest honors have been awarded to, among others, Wojciech Dąbrowski, CEO of PGE, the Polish Security Printing Works, and Bank Zachodni WBK.
